Power button light flashing continuously and not reacting to request to print. Does this mean a cartridge needs replacing? If so, which one?

Hi

Yes you are correct the cartridge(s) need to be replaced.

Usually the color cartridge need to be replaced. But just in case try to do the following

1. Turn on the printer
2. Open the top cover
3. remove the cartridges from printer
4. Clean the contacts inside the printer and on the cartridges
5. install them back and try.

OR

Let the printer finish the normal initialization process, then hold the power button and open and close the top cover 3 times. The printer will print the diagnostics page and in this the cartridges status is printed hence you will come to know which cartridge needs to be replaced.

How do I change the printe ink cartridge?

Hi There!
Here's what you can do to replace the cartridge
Just open the top cover together with the scanner cover. When the cartridge carrier move in the middle of the printer, it's the time you can replace the catridge, then lift up the top cover for the cartridge carrier & then the cartridges.
In replacing the cartridges, you just have to push the cartridge down the carrier, you will hear a snapping sound then return the top cover for the carrier and the scanner bed.
Hope this helps!

How do you load new printer cartriges

To replace an ink cartridge using the fonth.gif ink button, follow the steps below.
1. Make sure that the printer is on. The fontp.gif power light should be on, but not flashing.
2. Lower the output tray, then open the printer cover.
3. Press the fonth.gif ink button. The print head moves to the ink cartridge replacement position, the fontp.gif power light begins to flash, and the fonth.gif ink out light corresponding to the ink cartridge that needs to be replaced begins to flash or remains on.
4. Open the cartridge cover. Pinch the sides of the ink cartridge that you want to replace. Lift the cartridge out of the printer and dispose of it properly. Do not take the used cartridge apart or try to refill it.
5.Remove the new ink cartridge from its protective bag. Place the ink cartridge vertically into the cartridge holder. Then, push the ink cartridge down until it clicks into place. Do not apply excessive force to the cartridge.
6. When you are finished replacing the cartridge, close the cartridge cover and the printer cover.
7. Press the fonth.gif ink button. The printer moves the print head and begins charging the ink delivery system. The fonth.gif ink lights start flashing. This process takes about one minute to complete. When the ink charging process is finished, the printer returns the print head to its home position. The fontp.gif power light will stop flashing and remain on, and the fonth.gif ink out light will turn off. The fontp.gif power light will continue to flash while the printer is charging ink. Never turn off the printer while this light is flashing.

2) Remove the empty Cartridge. Press down on the cartridge and then remove it.

4) lacing a FINE Cartridge Insert a new Cartridge all the way into the appropriate slot. The Black Cartridge should be installed into the left slot and the Color Cartridge should be into the right slot. Push up the Cartridge until it clicks into place.

5) Lift the Scanning Unit (Printer Cover) slightly to set the Scanning Unit Support back to its original position, and then gently close the Scanning Unit (Printer Cover)

Instaling ink cartridge

Open the printer below the scanner bed. Lift up immediately above the keyboard area. This opening is immediately below the opening for the scanner bed. If you have the printer on, the cartridges will move to the center. There is a legend in front that shows you which is black and which is color after you open the printer. To take out a cartridge, push the aqua latch immediately in front of a cartridge. A top cover to the cartridge on springs pops up. You can gently pull a cartridge out of its housing. If you are replacing a cartridge, remove any orange pieces from the new cartridge as needed, remove any tape covering the copper sensors, then put the new cartridge where the old one was and push down on the cartridge spring-loaded housing cover. Repeat for the other cartridge as needed. When finished and the housing covers are closed, close the printer and the printer will move the cartridges where they need to be. Use the printer's software to align cartridges as needed. You should be good to go!

1. Make sure the printer is turned on.
2. Make sure the document cover is closed, then closed, then open the scanner.
(Do not open the scanner when the document cover is open).
3. Press and release the ink button. The 'On' and 'Ink' lights flash.
If one of the cartridges is low or empty the printer moves that cartridge to the 'ink out' mark. Go to step 4.
If no cartridges are low or empty the ink cartridge holder moves to the ink replacement position. Go to step 5.
4. Pree the 'ink' button again.
If more than one cartridge is empty or low the next cartridge moves to the 'ink out' mark.
Once the printer identifies all the empty or low ink cartridges the print head moves to the ink cartridge replacement position.
5. Open the cartridge cover, squeeze the tab at the back of the empty cartridge and lift it out.
6. Before you open the new cartridge package shake it four or five times and remove it from the package .
(Don't remove or tear the label on the cartridge otherwise ink will leak out) .
(Don't touch the green chip on the front of the ink cartridge - you could damage the cartridge).
7. Place the new ink cartridge into the cartridge holder and push it down till it clicks into place.
8. Replace any other cartridges that need replacing.
9. Close the ink cartridge cover and press it until it clicks into place.
10. Close the scanner.
11. Press the 'ink' button. The printer starts charging ink and the 'on' light starts flashing . This takes about a minute . When it's finished the 'on' light stops flashing and remains on and the 'ink' light goes out.
