You have to drag and drop songs from your itunes library. It also helps to place the music in different folders. When you plug the player into your computer, it should ask if you want to open the files on the player. Do this, then select to make a new folder. Open the folder, (there should be nothing in it.) Then drag the songs from your itunes library to the open folder of the player. When finished dragging songs, make sure to close the folder on the player, then to safely eject it from the computer. All songs purchased from itunes are in AAC format. You will need to convert the songs to mp3 format before dragging them to the player.
Hope this helps. This is how I get songs onto my mp3 player. Itunes is so much easier the windows media player.
If you haven't solved this problem I have just been on the phone to the manufacturers and have the solution.
Plug the MP3 player in and then load windows media player. (You need to make sure the songs (at least 1) is loaded onto media player first) then click sync on the top toolbar it should show that there is a device connected in the top right corner. Now drag your song to the box below the device and then press sync. Disconnect the device and it should be there. Now when you plug your mp3 back in you will be able to just drag songs into it on through the usual my computer. Hope that helps.
On the MP610 you could use either Windows Media Player 11 or Coby Media Manager for transfers of songs.
Next steps are important for adding files onto the player:
1. The player should be detected in the software for transfers, when connecting the USB cable.
2. Setup your library in the software (Add to library): There has to be a list of folders in the software manager, where your music is located on the computer.
3. Create a playlist in the software: make a list of songs, you want to transfer onto your player
4. Sync the playlist onto the player.
