Using Windows XP. Want to copy vidoe from Media

Is the drive you are using a DVD writer or only a DVD reader? The drive that writes to RW disks is labeled DVD/RW or DVD Recordable.
These are the only drive types that will read and write a DVD/RW disc.

DVD +R DL

maybe...

does it do it with all disk?
Try all disk dvd, dvd dl, cd, original dvd/cd

If you have a bootable disk you can see if the drive boots from it

You could try going onto the manufacturers website and download any newer firmware, this shouldn't be needed but worth a try eliminate any firmware problem.

Also could try the drive on another pc

or you can pull the drive out of the case so its still attached then put in a disk most drives you should see a red dot on the top of the drive on the label.

How old is the drive, as it may be under warranty

Wont read or recognise there is acd inserted

When you open my computer do you see the drive in the window? If the drive does not show up in this window you can check two things, check to be sure that the cable connecting the drive to the mother board is good. And the other issue could be that the drive itself has gone bad. If it is unable to read any cd's then you probably need a new drive. Be sure to put in several cd's to be sure it is not the cd disk.

Cd/dvd not working in my HP Laptop. DVD keeps spinning and making a clicking noise. When I click on My computer they diver appears but does not show that there is a disk in the drive

If it's clicking while spinning something in the drive may have broken. The platic parts they use in these drives can often snap. I would replace the drive.

two things. Firsly make sure that you are using the correct disks i.e if your drive is dvd-r then only use dvd-r disks, if its dvd+r then only use dvd+r disks if it is a multi drive then it won't matter what disks you use. Secondly don't format the disk first. If it asks you to format the disk click on the X to shut the pop up box. Only put the disk in when dvd maker asks for you to insert a disk.

My Samsung CDRW/DVD SM352F plays commercial DVDs but will not recognise an inserted DVD/RW for recording picture files and shows properties as O bytes used space and O bytes free space. What is wrong?

the drive you are using is called a combo drive
CDRW- means CD WRITER
DVD- means DVD READER

DVD WRITER is not included in this combo...

only cd could be read and also written
but is case of DVD , it could only be read..

Hi, I have an ASUS W1000 laptop and I am having problems with the CD/DVD drive. The computer can still read the hardware as I have uninstalled it and the restart automatically reinstalled the drive....

my Solution is to purchase an external dvd writer and use that as the internal onse dont last long as the heat from the laptop can cause problems to the connectors to the dvd burners.

hope this will help.
