I kept digging on line and found that you use the "hold" button on the side to turn it off. Thanks for your quick response however.

    Take care.

I have the Sony ICD-MX20. It apparently does not have a turn off button either. Is there no workaround? How long can I expect the batteries to last? I can't believe that Sony would not have a power off button.

Haha, four years later and they still haven't added this to the instructions. Glad that someone figured it out!

The hold button on the right hand side . Just slide it forward and it will go off. forward means if you are holding it, in your hand facing your slide it up ..

This unit doesn't have Power On-Off switch because its power consumption is very low.

Hold button isn't to Off the unit, it just to use as not to change unit status by hitting any key and stay in that state where you set unit. Like if you don't want to play or record accidentally, switch Hold.
