A scratched cd/dvd can have errors causing the install to fail. Use a clean cd/dvd install disc to fix it.

If you are trying to install directly from the hard drive then a malware infection could have corrupted or damaged that part of your hard drive. Install windows from the cd/dvd disc for your computer.

blue screen in XP is usually due to hardware issues. Did you add or change hardware? By now, probably your only solution is to repair windows XP by putting in the XP setup disk and get to repair. If you do the install, it will format your hard drive and you will lose your programs and files.

Factory reset without using a disk and ALT + F10 doesnt work

his MIGHT work:

1. Click "Start," "Turn Off Computer" and then "Restart", if it is on. If your computer is off, turn it on by pressing the power button above the keyboard.
2. Press the "F2" function key on your computer's keyboard to enter the BIOS utility.
3. Use the laptop's right arrow key to scroll to "Main." Confirm that the "D2D Recovery" is "Enabled." If the D2D option is "Disabled," scroll down to the option using the down arrow key. Press "Enter" to change the option to "Enabled."
4. Use the laptop's right arrow key to scroll to "Exit." The "Exit Saving Changes" option will be highlighted. Press "Enter" to save the settings and exit the BIOS utility. Your Acer Aspire will restart.
Reformatting the Acer Aspire
1. Press the "ALT" and "F10" keys together while your computer is restarting and the Acer logo is showing to enter the Acer Aspire's reformatting utility.
2. Follow the on-screen prompts. Your laptop's hard drive will reformat and the original applications will be reinstalled. Your computer will restart after the reformatting process is complete.

I have an ACER and was trying to restore to factory condition and now it tries to load and says "Windows cannot finish installation, please restart your computer" then it says the same thing...

Hi, welcome to FixYa.

Most likely your factory backup in your notebook is damaged, that's way the restoration process failed. If your notebook is still in warranty, I suggest you to bring it to nearest Acer Service Center, ask them to replace the recovery partition you have in your notebook.

How do i reset my laptop back to factory settings

The disc that you should have received with the laptop should give you this option. Just put it in and reboot and it will bring you to a menu with a few different recovery options to choose from.

I forgat my. Administration user account and I need to axces to my acer one

1st Method:
The first thing which you check if you forget login password. When we install Windows, it automatically creates an account "Administrator" and sets its password to blank. So if you have forget your user account password then try this:
Start system and when you see Windows Welcome screen / Login screen, press ++ keys twice and it'll show Classic Login box. Now type "Administrator" (without quotes) in Username and leave Password field blank. Now press Enter and you should be able to log in Windows.
Now you can reset your account password from "Control Panel -> User Accounts".
Same thing can be done using Safe Mode. In Safe Mode Windows will show this in-built Administrator account in Login screen.

2nd Method:
A. Boot using Windows XP Setup CD and follow the instruction like Accepting EULA, etc.
B. When it asks to repair your existing Windows installation, accept it and press "R" to run the repair.
C. Setup will start repairing your Windows and will start copying files, etc.
D. After a few minutes setup will restart your system and when it restarts don't press any key when it shows "Press any key to continue..." otherwise Setup will start from the beginning. Don't press any key and setup will resume where it left.
E. Now it'll start doing other tasks and will show a small progressbar with a few details in left side.
F. Look carefully at the details and when it shows "Installing devices", press +F10 keys in your keyboard.
G. It'll open a Command Prompt window. Now type nusrmgr.cpl and press .
H. It'll open the same "User Accounts" window which you see in Control Panel.
I. Now you can remove or reset any account password without any problem.

Brand new notebook .. windows then, screen freeze..acer picture

This may require a "repair" of windows.

Get a Windows XP Operating system disk with the correct service pack that the notebook has installed (usually XP SP2).

1. Boot from it (put it in CD drive and restart the laptop).

2. If you still get the same problem start up, you need to set the laptop to boot from CD.

3. Restart laptop, press Delete key or F2, or F12 (it should say one of these on the screen) to enter the Setup. or another key to get "boot options"

4. In Setup (BIOS) Use Right Arrow to find the Boot Options. Use the instructions to move the CD-ROM to first position, above HDD (hard drive). Press Esc, then F10 to save your changes and exit.

5. The XP CD Rom should now run. It should come to a screen where you are asked to press R to repair windows.

6. When it comes to the command prompt, restart the laptop

Hopefully the laptop should boot OK again.
