Question about Sony KP-65WS500 65" Rear Projection Television
We've had this TV with no service call and no problem for several years. However, the other day, when I turned the TV on, red lines (like rays) all across the screen showed up, followed by a strong burnt smell. I turned off the TV and unplugged it.
It looks like it blew a tube or two - any suggestions, or similar experience?
I called a few repair companies and they told me there are 3 tubes on this TV - red, green and blue. The red tube alone costs around $400.
If one part cost this much, it may not be advisable to fix the old TV.
We have repaired 100s of these tv..most have a flicker issuse and it is getting hard to find replacement tubes. the cost sounds right...I suggest to invest in a new tv.
