Did you get an instruction manual with the phone? If you "lost" it, you'll have to get another, or you might be able to find one close to yours at http://www.home-electronics.net/ge/pc/user-manuals.asp

By default the security code is 123, so you might call in and enter 123 and see what it does.

How do I retrieve recorded messages from an outside phone?


You can access the answering system remotely by dialing your home telephone number from any touch-tone telephone. To remotely access the answering system
Dial your telephone number from any touch-tone telephone. When the answering system answers, enter the two-digit remote access code (19, unless you have changed it). The answering system automatically announces the number of messages (new or old) if there are any. Messaging - Callback To leave a Callback Message on a telephone when you hear busy or ringback tone: ! Press MESSAGE. To respond to a Message Waiting condition on your telephone: 1. Lift the handset. 2. Press MESSAGE. A call is placed to the message sender (voice mail system or extension user) that left the oldest message. To view information about the messages before responding: 1. Press MESSAGE. 2. Do one of the following. " To call the message sender, press the Call softkey (if available). " To delete the message, press the Erase Msg softkey. " To view the next message, press MESSAGE

How do I set up the voicemail feature?


Messaging - Advisory
To turn Messaging - Advisory on:
1. Press SUPERKEY.
2. Press the No softkey until "Advisory Msgs?" appears.
3. Press the Yes softkey.
4. Press the Next softkey until the desired message appears.
5. Press the TurnOn softkey.

To turn Messaging - Advisory off:
1. Press SUPERKEY.
2. Press the No softkey
3. Press the Yes softkey.
4. Press the TurnOff softkey.

Messaging - Callback
To leave a Callback Message on a telephone when you hear busy or
ringback tone:
! Press MESSAGE.
To respond to a Message Waiting condition on your telephone:

Greeting message
When the unit answers a call, callers are
greeted by a greeting message. You can
record your own greeting message or

Voicemail message repeats itself and does not beep for message


sounds like your main greeting and your general delivery mailbox message might be the same. Try altering the main greetings message to see if the messages differ from each other

How do you set up the message for the answering machine? Lost the instructions that came with the unit. I know the phone has a menu, but not sure if this is where I would program the answering machine.

Erase Messages

The pre recorded message on the answering machine has been lost.


I read thru the manual. There is nothing bout recovery of factory messages. If you recorded your own, try deleting it. Or unplug the base from power and try a reset. This is from the manual. At the end, I gave you a link to the manual!
