Try removing AA battery from back of timer.

Question posted under HB88RC 6-button outdoor plug-in timer with battery compartment located on back of timer.
Instruction manual does not say how to reset timer.
Other newer timers are rest by removing battery.
HB88RC is replaced by newer HB8800 series with lifetime warranty.

Most major brands are linked here, including manuals for each.
Some brands such as yardworks, etc, repackage other brands and have no online support or clear resolution for warranty claim.
Open link, then add a comment with brand and model and voltage so expert can access same manual.
Replace battery. Reset timer. Check if unit is getting power. Check if outlet has correct polarity. Are some basic troubleshoot steps.
Most timers have 1 year limited warranty, and timer that came with used house may no longer be functioning. Or the sprinkler hear has gone bad.
For replacement, I think Intermatic mechanical sprinkler timers are better value than digital timers, since the mechanicals have repair motors and trippers and can last 25 years.

Help programing or instructions for indoor timer TM-020 E227659

Over past 2 years, I have requested several times that person asking question about TM 020 please include full description of timer buttons and relevant features, and/or post photo of timer on flickr and add link to that photo, so the timer can be clearly identified and possible manual found using timer with same-similar features.

Problem #1. On model #DT300 the instructions under Set Time of Day # 3 does not change the day. The only place I can get the day/s to change is under the programming. What is wrong with it. I have...

Thank you for very clear question, and timer identification.
1) I don't have repair for defective timer.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Intermatic-timers-and-manuals.html#DT300
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/DT300-series-manual.pdf

2) Choose DT300 format
#3 says to press-and-hold CLOCK button until display shows 24H or 12H
Then release CLOCK button.
Next press HOUR button to select either 12H or 24H
This lets you choose am-pm format -or- choose military-time format where 11pm is 23

3) Set current time
Press-and-hold CLOCK button throughout whole current time setting.
Do not release CLOCK button until current time settings are finished.
Next, press HOUR button, and then MINUTE button, and then DAYS button until current hour, minute and day display.
Then release CLOCK button.
If this step does not work, then timer has gone bad.
Replace with locally available Utilitec 155671 from Lowes or Westek TE06WHB from Target
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#59377

4) How to set DT300 timer program for full week of operation.
Each program requires you to set program 1 ON time and program 1 OFF time
Be careful to avoid program conflicts and overlaps so timer works as expected.

For program 1 ON time, you press PROGRAM button until 1 and ON display.
Release Program button.
Then select hour, minute and days. In this case you want all days of week, so you keep pressing DAYs button until whole week displays: Mo Tu We Th Fr Sa Su

Then you set program 1 OFF time, you press PROGRAM button again until 1 and OFF display.
Release Program button.
Then select hour, minute and days. In this case you want all days of week, so you keep pressing DAYs button until whole week displays: Mo Tu We Th Fr Sa Su

If you set ON time for all days of week, and OFF time for Tu Tuesday, then timer will not work correctly.

5) Read manual and add a comment for additional help

I am programming the intermatic ET70215C to turn on at sunset and off at sunrise. The two switches led lights come on time but not load is switching. I tried resetting the device and replacing the battery...

If indicator lights turn ON-OFF on schedule, then timer is programmed correctly.
Timer default voltage is 120Volt. Page 29 of manual shows how to change voltage.
Load rating is max 20amps.
This timer is not made for heavy amp loads, but instead is made to control a contactor for switching heavy loads. Add a comment for more information about contactors.

1) Are timer relays clicking on and off?
Test for voltage across terminals when indicator shows.
Check that load is operational.
Following link shows typical 120Volt wiring
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/Intermatic-et70215cr-wiring-900.jpg

2) Terminals 3 thru 8 are dry and receive no power when wires from breaker box connect to terminals 1 and 2. Jumper from terminal 2 is needed to put power to timer circuits.

3) Only copper wire and no insulation can be under terminal screw plate. Two wires under same screw plate have to be same gauge and type, so mixing stranded wire and solid copper wire will cause loose connections.

4) This is 2-channel timer, so both relay circuits can be programmed independently: If programming is set for relay 2, but wires are connected to relay 1, then programming will not work.

5) Programming difficulty: Usually last step troubleshoot is replace battery and then reset timer after battery replacement.
Press and hold clear key and then press reset momentarily
Keep holding clear button until 'reset' displays.

Typical manual is 39 pages long. Add a comment about specific part of manual that is not clear, for possible help.

6) Contact Intermatic if timer is defective:
Replacement parts and circuit boards are available for some timers.

FM1D single-channel timer is difficult to program.
Open following links to identify timer and download manual:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Intermatic-timers-and-manuals.html#GM40AVE
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/fmd-20-setpoint-programming-guide.pdf

Timer flowchart starts page 3.
First step is to select format and then set current time.
Format is asking if you want 24hour or 12 hour format:
12 hour is am and pm
24 hour is military time where 11pm at night is hour 23.
Current time is simply the time right now.

Next step is to set program 1 thru 20 (P01 P02 thru P20)
Start by pushing +/- until desired program displays
Each program is set for either ON or OFF.
There are 20 memories available: 10 ON and 10 OFF.
Not necessary to use all 20 memories.
You need to set at least 1 ON time and 1 OFF time.

Make chart of on-off schedule to avoid conflicts in programming: For example ON at 7am Monday and OFF at 9am all-days-of-week will cause timer not to function as expected.
Each ON time is set for hour, minute and day.
Each OFF time is set for hour, minute and day
Press menu to terminate programming.

I also am having trouble with this timer. I've got the program set for when I want it to go on but can't figure out how to put in the time I want it to stop. I don't understand where the countdown timer...

ETW350 is programmable timer that offers 3 different timer
functions: Program, countdown and random.
Timer has 20 different settings.
UPM site is not available recently, but UPM timers are still being sold.

Operation manual is not very clear how to program ON and OFF times.
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/UPM-etw350.pdf

That being said, usually with programmable timers, you program ON time. And then program OFF time.

I do not own this timer so I can't test ETW350 like I've tested other timers.
I think the way this timer works, is program1 is ON.
And program2 is OFF.
Again, manual is not CLEAR about ON and OFF times.

Following instructions assume timer is wired correctly, timer is set for current time, and you want to set 'timer' function and not 'random' function.
Here's how to set program1.
Press arrow buttons until 1 shows in display. This is program1.
Press Set button.
Select day for program1 ON using arrow keys
Press Set button.
Select hour for program1 ON using arrow keys.
Press Set button.
Select minute for program1 ON using arrow keys.
Press Set button.
Use arrow keys until 2 appears on display. This is program2.
I believe program2 is for OFF times.
Set program2 using same steps above.
Be careful to match ON and OFF days ... for example ON 7pm Monday and OFF 9pm Friday will keep lights on from Mon through FRI.
Conflicts in programming will cause timer not to work. For example program1 ON 7pm Monday, program2 OFF 9pm Monday ... but programs3-4 say opposite times.
Make a schedule of program times before starting to avoid conflicts.
Try steps above and test fire that timer, and then add a comment.
