Question about Asko T701 Electric Dryer

T700 Dryer Won't heat

We have a 1999 T700 dryer (similar to T701). The other day the dryer didn't shut off, the clothes came out very hot and smelled a bit burned. Now the heating element will not come on at all. The drum turns so it's not the reset, the fuse appears OK, but I'll replace it anyway. I changed the lower panel and fan cover so it can be easily removed for cleaning (which we do frequently). I removed and cleaned the entire internal ducting system as well as the ductwork to the outside. Checked all the connections from the top. The nearest ASKO repair is 100 miles away. Any ideas other than buy a Maytag ?? Thanks

Not turning off, is caused by a small stepper motor attached to the back of the timer, that actually moves the timer (if a mechanical knob, my memory for obscure (sorry) models isnt perfect) they fail and are replaceable, separately to the timer, or the timer can be replaced with a rebuilt one, at approx the same cost as buying a stepper motor,

No heat is caused by the failure of a thermal cutout(thermal fuse overtemp cutout or any of a dozen other names) a small device like this T700 Dryer Won't heat - 5850e1d.jpg or this 4947033.jpg screwed on the ducting between the fan housing and the exhaust, with wires to the terminals.
when you stopped the unit while it was very hot, heat built up enough that the thermal cutout melted. test with ohmmeter or bulb and battery, no conduct -replace

Notes
There are only a few cutouts common to most dryer models the local parts guy will have one to fit, even if marked with a different brand name,
generic compatible timer available at local parts guy
saving a 100mile drive

Asko t701 dryer burning smell

Loud noise is not a good description. What does it sound like? The dryer has a belt that turns the drum, the belt can wear and slip, there is a also a tensioner pulley on the belt system and then there is the motor that turns the drum. The smell could be from the belt, however you should know that dryers are not maintenance free and you have to clean them at least annually because they can build up lint in the cabinet and that lint can get into the heating element and it can start a fire.

Kenmore dryer. Heats up intensely

Hi, It's an over heating motor that's cousing the thermal switch to trip, on the motor.

Motor retails for $150.
Labor for putting it in is $90.

It might just be worth replacing it.
Sorry for the bad news :(

Best of luck.

Asko t701 dryer makes exsessive noise and drum rotates slowly

Mine was very noisy. Then I found the impeller clogged with lint. I cleaned it and now the noise is gone.

Remove the lower panel (2 Torx T20 screws).
Remove the impeller cover (1 Torx T10 screw and 4 snaps).
Clean impeller.
Reinstall covers. Don't overtighten screws.

Mytag Dryer ModelLdg4000Aw

I have a Maytag Atlantis Gas Dryer that will turn on, rotate, but will not get hot and dry the clothes. A load of clothes in the afternoon, didn’t dry, tried again but didn’t dry – went to bed after putting on auto dry - next morning the dryer was still rotating and didn’t turn off. No hot air – only cold air.

Check coils on burner assembly. Often when a dryer heats initially and then stops heating a coils has gone bad.
