Perform a disk check and see if you have a bad sector.

or you may try to defrag the HDD...

as a last resort you may try to back up the files you have in the HDD and have it reformatted

My sony has a 120gb hard drive. Drive C is only about 13gb and fills up to fast. How can I make the C drive the entire 120gb or maybe increase the size of the C drive?

To do this you have to get a partition manager software ( here is a free one ) (near middle of that page is a section called Home and Home Office, you want the free Home Edition). Read the instructions all the way through before actually attempting to change any partitions.

You asked this question in 2008 and got an answer. Did you go to Crucial and run their scan?

Download and run Belarc. It will tell you more about your computer. Based on the information you have provided, your system will not support more than 256mb or 512mb of memory. It might support a 120GB disk.

I'd throw it in the junk pile and buy a new computer.

Personally i wouldn't put anything bigger than a 120GB hard drive in that machine because of its age.

I have a Compaq Presario, model #: SR2150NX W/120GB HD

You should be able to add a SATA drive to that machine (IDE should also be available to you). The spec drive in your machine is a 120GB, you may get a decent increase in speed if you use a newer SATA hard drive with a fresh install of Windows on it and simply put the existing drive as the slave or drive 2.

Ihave amaxtor diamondmax plus 9 120gb sata/150 hdd iam not shure of the sata cable plasements from hdd to comp.

Any of the Sata ports on the mainboard is sufficient but go for "0" or "1" because they may already be enabled. Couple things though... 1.) go into set-up and make sure the port is enabled 2.) make sure you are using the correct data cable for your Hard drive. (trust me on this one, I learned the hard way!)
