Sidekick II I need to get my device apart, I think: the "On-off" switch does not work any more

The ON-OFF contact point does not work any more- I was trying to get inside the device to see it I could engage the contact point from inside. I have since discovered that if I let the device die completely ( let the battery run out) it reboors itself when the battery c harger is hooked up.

What do you need to take it appart for... what are you trying to fix... you can damage the device if you just pull the battery while its on however if you pull the battery or wait for the phone to die before you open it and the button doesnt work how are you gonna get it back on when your done...

Yes, you can. you will need to take it apart to do so and a new screen. A torx screwdriver is what you need to disassemble the sidekick.

Sidekick

The SIM card slot on a Sidekick II is located on the top left corner of the device, under the rubber "bumper". The support section of T-Mobile's website has a diagram showing how to insert the SIM in a Sidekick 2.

My sidekick fell in water , like normal water . And well everytime i use it it says something like " sidekick is having some techinically difficultie plz contact ur nearest t-mobile store " it works fine...

Ok, You need some assistance for that. You should get some precision screws and unscrew your mobile. The get a hair drier and put it on (Hot) or the Red button and start drying the Main board of your Sidekick. But be careful with unscrewing your device, as you may forget some screws.
