Re: no power

Would begin by checking obvious components like the power supply transistors, diodes, caps, etc. Also, if you can locate it (it should be a large transistor mounted on a heatsink by the flyback x-former), check the horizontal output transistor for a dead short. You could also have a lot of cold solders on the cotrnol board and in the HV and power supply.

Power cord input looks like its burned need assistant in solving problem

As the problem relates to high voltage power cord, it is to dangerous to advise anything else but to disconnect the power cord from the wall, and have the unit checked by a professional service technician. The cause may be a short circuit in the power supply board, that can only be fixed professionally.

Please do not take any risks with mains voltage.

Tv turns off after 30 sec. - 2min.

If you can turn it back on with the s momentary key or power button:

When it shuts off, do you need to push the power button once or twice to get it back on? Also, does anything else about the picture or sound change as it warms up?

If once, then the controller is shutting the TV down either as a result of a (thermally induced) fault in the controller or it sensing some other problem. Monitoring the voltage on the relay coil (assuming these is one) could help determine what is happening. The controller thinks it is in charge.

If twice, then the power supply is shutting down as the controller still thinks it is on and you are resetting it. A couple of possibilities here would be low voltage or high voltage regulation error (excessive high voltage is sensed and causes shutdown to prevent dangerous X-ray emission). A partially dried up main filter capacitor could also cause a shutdown but there might be other symptoms like hum bars in the picture just before this happened. Clipping a good capacitor across the suspect (with power off!) would confirm or eliminate this possibility.

If it uses a pull-knob (or other hard on/off switch), then this may be like pulling the plug and would reset any abnormal condition.

Dynex DX LDTVD 20 TV - have sound but no picture. I think I hit a wrong button on remote but can't figure out how to fix.

If the screen is totally gone (no menu or volume bar or any light at all) you have a high voltage/horizontal problem or vertical problem. Hard to say without some hands on troubleshooting. Have a repair shop check it out. Thanks

Have sound but no picture. lcd tv.

If an LCD TV has sound but no picture do the following:

Use the source button to ensure that source is not set to the wrong input.

Try unplugging power cord for ten minutes, to ensure it is not a setting problem.

Check all the video cables at the back of TV.

Check Light /Color settings.

If problem persist and does not depend on external receiver or settings, then it is likely an internal fault.

If it has sound but no picture then one of the following parts is faulty, and must be tested and replaced:

Theinverter is the high voltage board that provides variable power to thebacklight lamp. This is the most common. When inverter is faulty youcan get no picture, or a very dim picture that can only be seen bypointing a torch light with a 45 degree angle on the LCD surface fromvery near distance.
The inverter must be tested by reading voltages with a multimeter.

The LCD ribbon cable/LCD display and connectors.
Thisis quite uncommon, but happens. If the TV had been hit or moved the LCDcable may have slipped out, or the LCD connector may be damaged.

The LCD controller board.
Thisis the board that controls the video signal, it is difficult to test,as there is need to read determined values on IC pins. To test thisboard you need to purchase a service manual and follow thetroubleshooting diagrams on service manual.

Input/Output Signal boards.
This are the boards where youconnect the video and audio cables, if a signal board is defective, then you may get no picture on particular inputs located on faultyboard.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual.

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

Got hit by lighting spike blows fuses when plugged in

The television has problems in the power supply board. The high transient voltages in the spike may have damaged all the board in the unit. This is because of the speed in which it occurs. The Power supply has other safety blow out components in it to stop this damage. If you are lucky the components saved the rest of you television and just blew out the power supply. You will need to have the television tested and see if this is the case. The customer service telephone number is 1-800-631-3811. Give them the model number of you television and ask them for a location of the nearest service center. Call them and ask them how much they charge for estimating repairs for you type of television. They should be able to help you. I hope this information helps you with your problem.

High pitched sound

you can fix this if you are very careful. it is call a high voltage leak. inside of the tv, close to where the power comes in will be what is called a high voltage transformer. if you are electrically inclined, unplug the tv, take the back off and then hook the power line up and turn the tv on. with the lights off in the room and a flashlight handy, look at where the sound is coming from. locate where the sound is coming from and look very carefully(very carefull not to touch with your hands or head to any part) for a white-ish blue arc of electricity. if you can see this then that is where the problem is. to fix it you will need to put something in between the two places that it is arcing from. a piece of plastic or silicon putty or anything non-conductive will work. again, be very careful or you might get the dogsnot shocked out you.

No picture

I must say about combo's they are more to work on than just TV sets, because they have the dvd and or vcr linked. You could try but it will be a job fixing. Just getting to parts and the things you have to take apart is enough to say let an experience person do it. But you problem is High Voltage, you are missing it. Its probably you horizontal output is shorted and a few other things. You could try it, but probably not worth it.

Panasonic PV-M1359W 13 in. Combo II

A couple of easy things you could try is to unplug the TV from the AC over night, to let it discharge, and see if theres any difference, and also try to connect it to another power outlet. anything else is a bit tricky - if you have no electronic repair experience you should take the set to a repair shop. Some of the solutions described below can be dangerous, TV's are very hazardous to service. Even when plugged out, TV's can store very high voltages. Its possible that you got some dry joints, look for poor soldered joints on the high voltage side, and resolder them. particularly around the high-heat producing parts and flyback, h-driver and other transformers, etc.... and look for obviously burnt or mis-shaped components. Good luck

Power Problems?

You are getting high voltage momentarily. Your problem can be a failed component in the powersupply or the horiz output. Some troubleshooting would be necessary. The xray protection may even be comming on for some reason. Most of the failures is a bad cap or high speed diod. I have had a lot of experiance with Panasonic, and like anything else, anything can fail. Usualy they are excellent TV's along with a few of the other big names.
