Question about Maytag 25.6 cu. ft. Wide-By-Side Refrigerator with PuriClean II Ice and Water

1 Answer

Quit making ice

Water coming from the dispenser appears to be fine, so I don't think it is a water pressure issue. Could it be that something is iced up?

I cannot see in where the ice is made to see if there is any in there or not. There is none in the storage bin. The model number is MZD2665HEB. Thank you for any suggestions you can offer.

Just the usual lights are lit up. I actually got it to work again. I put the bar up that tells it to not make ice for a couple of days and after putting it down again, there was ice dumped into the bin within a couple of hours. It has continued to make ice since. It appears for now the problem has been resolved. Thanks for taking the time to look into this for me!!

I have a maytag wide by side refrigerator that dispenses water fine but stopped making ice. The ice level arm is down and I just changed our RO filters that have a line going to the fridge, pulled out the fridge to make sure the water lines weren't kinked. Not sure what else to check.

  • ruby doo Jan 23, 2009

Ice maker has stopped working after changing the filter. We put the metal wire arm up for the recommended two days and have put it down for ice maker to resume--but no ice --none in bin--none dispensed when pushing the button to do so. Water dispenses as it should. We don't want to burn out the ice maker by holding down the button for extended time frame. Any suggestions???

My Maytag ice maker stopped working; ice on doors & draw; What do you think might be causing this?

As odd as this sounds, my Maytag MFX2570AEM stopped making ice. I could feel ice in the tray but it suddenly stopped ejecting or making more even when the bar was in the correct position.

I read many articles telling me the motor was dead, the gears for removing the ice from the tray needed to be replaced, etc. THEN, I read one person who responded that his issue was resolved with a HAIR DRYER. It turns out something about the unit had frozen due to water getting on it, etc.

Sure enough, after blowing a hair dryer into the ice maker for 5-7 minutes I replaced the ice maker drawer and in about a minute it ejected the ice and filled the trays with water again. It has been making ice ever since.

Ice and Water not dispensing. Light button not working

http://www.repairclinic.com/0100_1.asp
There's an ice- or water-dispensing problem The ice and water-dispensing system of your refrigerator is quite complex. Many components work together to provide the ice and water. Aside from a simple problem of a leaky water tube or a jammed ice chute, most other components are not user serviceable. We suggest that you contact a qualified appliance repair technician for such repairs.

The fan at back does not come on. The fridge make a clicking noise, The fan tries to run... Also it does not pump water anymore. It does make ice

Ice dispenser doesn't work
  1. Dispenser control board
If the ice dispenser is not functioning at all the most likely cause is going to be the dispenser control board. The dispenser control board governs the major portion of the systematic functions of the dispenser and is less likely to be the issue if only certain components are malfunctioning. If the dispenser control board is at fault, it will need to be replaced.
  1. Water inlet valve & low water pressure from house supply
If the ice dispenser on your refrigerator is not working properly, one of the first things to consider as an issue is the water pressure to your appliance. The ice dispenser cannot properly function with a psi less than 20. If psi is appropriate, proceed to replace the water inlet valve to correct the issue. You may also be dealing with low household water pressure. This low flow can be examined by using a water pressure test gauge. Once the household water pressure is resolved, you can double check your refrigerator connection to ensure it is now flowing properly and that the ice dispenser is functioning.
  1. Water tube in door is frozen
If the ice dispenser is not working on your refrigerator, the issue could be a frozen water supply tube located in the door. Although this may be a tricky problem to locate, the first thing to do is find a connection point in the tube. After this has been found, attempt to blow air through the tube. If the air flows freely through the tube, it is not frozen and this is not the issue. If it does not, the tube is frozen and needs to be removed to thaw out. As it thaws, attempt to ascertain why it froze and correct the positioning of the tubing to prevent the issue from occurring again in the future.
  1. Dispenser switch
If the refrigerator ice dispenser is not working properly you could be dealing with a defective dispenser switch. Activated by the dispenser actuator, the switches are responsible for numerous actions including ice cube disbursement, type of ice, and water controls. The switch can be tested using an ohm meter and should be replaced if it does not reveal continuity.
  1. Door switch
If the refrigerator ice dispenser is not working, the functionality of the door switch can be inspected. This switch is responsible for turning on the light in the freezer and simultaneously turning off the ice dispenser when the freezer door is opened. If this switch malfunctions, it will show no continuity on the ohm meter and will require replacement.
Ice maker not functioning or producing ice cubes
  1. Check connections
Check all hose connections to ensure that water is being transmitted through your appliance and there is no frost build up.
  1. Feeler arm
Double check to make sure your feeler arm is not stuck or that ice cubes are not blocking the feeler arm's motion to produce more ice.
  1. Ice maker heater
The heater may be stuck on. The heater comes on for 1-2 minutes to break cubes free from mold. If the heater stays on too long ,the ice maker will get hot and stop making ice. Carefully feel around the ice maker mold; if it is hot to the touch, the heater is on. This indicates that the ice maker is jammed, and it is better to replace ice maker than to try and repair it.
  1. Water inlet valve
The water valve supplying the ice maker is a key component of the ice-making system. When the ice maker calls for ice, its switch closes an electrical circuit and energizes the solenoid-operated water valve. This allows water to flow through the valve and into the ice cube tray. The water is frozen into cubes, and the cubes are dumped into the ice bin. When this part is not operating correctly, a repair/replacement part may be needed. GE bottom freezer ice maker not working

Remember there are two sides to a dual water control valve, the water to dispenser side and the side that feeds the ice maker. Replace the WR57X10094 Dual Water Control Valve and I think you will be good to go on ice, Thanks Sea Breeze

It makes no ice cubes, but water still comes through door dispenser. Why? There appears to be no water getting to the ice making mechanism, however water is still coming out the door dispenser.

Is the freezer cold enough? Should be close to 10 degrees.
Is there water or ice in the ice mold? If not put water in it and see if it dumps the ice after it’s frozen. If there is ice, lift the cut off arm and let it drop to see if it will start.
If it does dump the ice but don’t refill with water.
Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

ICE MAKER QUIT MAKING ICE ON MY WHIRLPOOL FRIDGE

I had a Whirlpool Model GD5SHAXNS in which the icemaker quit working about the same time (3 years old). I had water out the dispenser, I found that it was the icemaker itself failed not calling for water to fill it. I replaced it with a icemaker on-line for about $100 and problem fixed. I have been told his is a common problem with the icemaker in this model ref.

Ice and Water not dispensing. Light button not working

INSIDE THE DISPENSER ASSEMBLY IS A SEPARATE ELECTRONIC BOARD THAT CONTROLS THE DISPENSER.
OCCASIONALLY, THE DOOR SOLENOID OR THE CUBE ICE SOLENOID WILL SHORT OUT CAUSING A BURNOUT OF THE DISPENSER CONTROL BOARD. CHECK FOR A BURNT SMELL COMING FROM THE DISPENSER HOUSING. IF YOU SMELL IT, THE BOARD AND/OR SOLENOID NEED TO BE REPLACED.

Jenn Air JCD2389GES ice dispenser problem

You could have a layer of solid ice at the bottom of your icetray. Remove icetray. Remove any ice in bottom. Reinstall. Be careful there is a connection on the rear of the icetray, you may have to turn it to get it to mesh correctly. Fill with ice and it should work fine. Good Luck.
