You may need another USB cord or try another USB port. Then Try another computer, Try to figure out which part is causing the malfunction. The Mini plug on the Sansa player will fit many other devises. Find some other device that will fit and plug that in to see if the cord is OK. Then try to reset your player. See this tip >>> here Reset your MP3 Player"...

My sansa dos not always charge and is not alywas reconized by the cumputer

I have a sansa and in order to get it to re-boot itself you'll have to drain the battery on it. Then press the menu button and hold it. it should go back to the factory settings.

There is a trick to charging the battery in these small mp3 players. It wont charge if it is turned on, and it won't charges if it's turned off. Here what to do...
1. plug the payer into your USB port. or wall charger
2. switch thje palyer on using the mechanical switch (on the side)
3. turn it off by either holding down the play button, or selecting "System" from the menu
4. The screen will go black and the battery will begin charging.

Sansa plugged into Ipod music player - won't work now

Yep - it's a sad thing. iPod docks have ruined many a good mp3 player. Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from Sandisk's website (make sure the Sansa is not plugged into the computer yet). Once the Recovery Tool is downloaded, connect the Sansa to the computer while holding in the REC button and continue to hold it even after th player is plugged in. It should go into Recovery Mode in 10-15 seconds or so.

Sansa freezes up

Is the Sansa still accessible from the computer? If it is, then your gonna need the latest firmware update.

If not, then I suggest turning off the sansa altogether and plugging it into the computer. Then it should automatically turn on when plugged into the computer, and hopefully not shut off. Then do as stated in first few sentences.
