my Nokia 3595 got a litle wet. It seems to have recovered for the most part. All that's not functional are the top row of 3 buttons (MENU, Up/DOWN and exit buttons) all else works fine. The screen has cleared itself, I can receive calls but I cannot get to my menu to unlock the keyguard feature or retrieve any of my contacts. Can you help??????
-   My #5 key requires me to press REAL HARD to make it register the number 5 or any alpha character. Any suggestions on how to fix it??-   arobbins
If You haven't already, open the phone remove the battery and SIM. I believe you can also remove the front face plate and key pad. Make sure the contacts behind the key pad are dry as well as the underside of the pad itself. Leave the cover and face plate off to allow to dry for as long as possible.
If the phone was too wet it may not recover. If it does not you will have to replace it.
The cheapest option is a go phone. You can get the Nokia 6010 refurbished online at Cingular for $29.95 and use your current SIM and will be good to go. When you order You will need to select a go phone plan but you do not need to activate it.
If all that doesnt help ya bud then the pc trace is open from the matrix off the other buttons. My experience with matrix type keypads is if you let them set after getting wet your doomed. its like spilling soda or your beer inside your remote for your tv set after a while the buttons all stick and some dont work If a after a spill you open the remote or keypad and spray it out with a non luberacating wash such as tuner wash from chemtronics or something like that , and wipe it carefully then let it dray fully it will come back to life unless you let it set and then it damages the pcb or flex thats its on. No when cleaning some keypads or remotes they will have a plasic or rubber mat the the buttons hit and the mat hits the pcb . on the bottom side of this mat is little carbon disc that some mnufactures paint on so dont wipe all this off till there clean or you wont use this remote again unless yopu get the small bottle of this carbon paint and redo them.
I had problem with one key on my Sony K320i that didn't work after getting wet. After removing the keypad I sprayed some oxide cleaning and gently brushed it with a soft brush. That worked.

I have problems with my keypad - the buttons won't work unless I pressed very hard.
I took the keypad off and used a small knife to cut small pieces of plastic that would fit into the hole where the contact is - raising the contact surface and allowing me to press the button with less effort.
