Sounds like a driver issue. Do you have driver disks for either of these devices? If so, try installing the drivers.
You can check for hardware which the system cannot operate correctly by doing a right-click over My Computer, then select Properties, click the Hardware tab, and run the Device Manager. That should give you a little yellow warning sign against any non-operating hardware.
If you need drivers, but have no disks, the manufacturer's web site is always the first place to look

Try installing the latest WEBcam driver. Download the WEBcam and device drivers from the Acer WEB site. Makesure you select the model of your laptop the drivers you that require thatmatches the Windows version that is installed on your laptop. Use this link toget to the Acer support: - http://www.acersupport.com/drivers_download.aspx
Actually you need to install chipset drivers first then you shoud try for additiona PCI driver like external sound card.
Try one thing again, go to your www.acer.com site and search driver as per your "Service tag no." not for model no. and download drivers for 'Chipset' and others as per your requirement.
