Intermittent blank screen with r,g and b semi-circles at top of screen

The problem I have is ocassionally the screen will go blank with the red, green and blue semi-circles at the top of the screen. The audio is still good and the standby LED is blinking. Sometimes, the problem will correct itself. I start to see the semi-circles start to stretch across the too of the screen the picture pops back into place...only for this to happen again a few minutes later. Sometimes it never corrects itself and I turn the tv off for a few minutes. When I turn it back on, I get a good picture for a while but the problem returns. Any ideas on the cause of this problem?

Dan, the set has been off for several months due to the stated problem so I powered it up last night to see if the problem would show itself again. And it did not...yet. But a new problem was evident without any blinking of the LED. Each time I changed the channel the audio would switch immediately as expected but the video would take about 30 seconds to a minute to switch and again there was no blinking LED. It did not matter which channel I switched. Any ideas?

Yes, the screen went blank and remained blank until the new channel appeared sometime later.

The blinking standby light should be a help. It should be blinking a repeating code. Can you post that here please?

Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. have you had a magnet near the screen, it has that effect, it will fade, but most TVs don't have a degauss feature.

Tv is blank when turned on

Do you have a green light that flashes and then goes off? You need instalation kit# 4835 310 57673, The chassis# is probably an L04.1U AA, correct? What you will do is correct the horizontal timing so everything will come on at the same time. After you install you will see red, blue, and green horizontal lines at the top of your screen.......this is normal when you power up your TV. This is a factory authorized repair.

No red

There're video guns. Red, Blue, and Green. Sounds like they maybe going bad and need replacing. The red is already going out. Could be about $200 or more to fix.
