Question about JVC KD-SX780 CD Player

1 Answer

KD-SX780 Alright, this is a lengthy problem so please bear with me, and I will cut to the chase. stereo worked fine when I turned the car off. Next morning it ran and died seconds later. But when I accelerate it runs briefly. I am a second year mechatronics student @ UNB so I asked my EE prof what he thought. He said that with all the symptoms he thinks that there is something burned up within the amplification modual that sends power out to the speakers. Because the stereo displays cd and radio function the equalizer is on and running I can switch through songs and radio stations and everything functions as if it would normally. He feels that when the car accelerates the stereo is getting an access surge of current that would briefly succeed any burned up component. I guess what my question is, have you encountered this problem beforeand could you inform me as to which component needs replacing and diagram to find it.

Re: KD-SX780

Yep May sound silly but do you have a dedicated line for youe B+ going to your amp section or Main B+ Line??? you as well should not I found from expereance use the factory B+ line to run an extras power type radio as its not really built or made for that. also Make sure you double and tripe check the grounds going to the radio as well and do not also use the factory grounds as they should as well be dedicated and that means right from the battery for the grounds.. Now a simple but very good way of getting a dedicated B+ line thats a switched type (only one when the keys on) Is to use a 12 volt 25 to 30 contact rating relay and use the cars original power wire for the 12+ for the relay coil and the ground from the original radio. Now one side of the relay can go directly to the battery and the on side when active can go to the radio.. simple but very efective.

Need to wire JVC model KD-G340 into a 97 Kia Sephia

Do not cut the wires from the car. Instead, call Crutchfield at 888-955-6000 and order the adapter part number 120701003. When you call them, ask for color coding. For JVC, refer to the attached picture. Match the adapter color code with that of JVC. If the adapter color code is the same, then connect ground (black), battery (yellow), and wire from ignition switch (red) securely. Turn on the car and see the radio works. If it works, connect one by one speakers and confirm. Remember, perfect connection gives reliable installation.

JVC KD-SX780 All of the sudden--just stopped working.. If you touch the "display" button--the display does come on briefly--otherwise nothing.. Any ideas??

There is a grounding tab on the back of the unit just above the antenna connection. This must be solidly connected to a GOOD ground. Found out the hard way myself. Once ground was established, I never had that problem again.

JVC KD-G351 question

It sounds like your stereo is working properly. I've never seen a car stereo that was wired properly that you could turn on and listen to while the car was off with the key removed from the ignition switch. You would have to move the ignition switch to the accessory position in order to get the stereo to work. Hope this helps. Good luck. Mike D.

To stop the memory loss you need to swap the red and yellow wires around. (battery power and ignition power).

To stop the date loss, you need to cut the electrical ariel/remote blue wire.

Compatible changer

Vicki As far as I know almost any high end JVC will match a compadable changer from another JVC product I say on MOST they will but to be sure IF I was you I would go into a automotive audio store like ABC warehouse or any good electronics store. NOT the super stores like wally world!! there salesman will be able to tell you if its compadible but your gonna need the model of the changer or borrow your sons car and they will look at it as a matter of fact some stores will even install the dash radio for free if its a simple install after you buy the radio. Hope this helps as I know what its like to get radios and equipment stolen from your car as I used to live in NY and in a period of 5 years I got 4 cars stolen and 12 audio systems stolen.!!!! GOOD LUCK and lets know how this turns out??
