22 year old 20" Mitsubishi TV

My 22 year old TV has gone black & white - picture is good quality, but no color. This is the TV that the children watch. Is it worth it to get this fixed or is it time for a new TV -

The problem with sets of this vintage is parts. There are a number of possible reasons for the loss of color. Some are simple and parts are still available, others are not. Considering the labor cost for any TV repair these days, I'd say that you got your money's worth out of this set and invest in a new one. If you'd like, post the model number and maybe I can get you the probable defective parts along with their replacement costs.

I think its time to get new one ,for 22 years it has served its useful life now its in the end life when it will start giving problem even if you fix this one another one may likely come up at times this is usually the case as most of the parts are worn out after many years of service even humans so i think your best bet should getting new one .
hope this helps

I have a Mitsubishi CS 3515R 35" Tube TV. The screen has narrowed at the top and the bottom so only about 2/3 of the horizontal screen has picture. There are black areas at the top and bottom....

There are two issues, the first is a vertical deflection problem, "needs a few parts+an ic" the second problem is intermittent color, "crystal and color processor ic" If the set is close to 10 years old then your money is better spent on a new tv.

Color problem

Please fine tune those B/W channels to obtain color picture. If TV is more then 4 - 5 years old, it needs resoldering in tuning area or might need replacement of IF block.

Toshiba Color Television....now picture is black and white

Good day.
The missing color issue can be resolved by resoldering the loose contacts in your units circuitry. Your unit is still worth to be fixed.

Response is highly appreciated.

Picture darker/less color/smaller until warm up

Hi there!
Have you checked for dust on the Tubes and mirror? This may cause a bad picture quality. Also power supply related problems like capacitors can cause a dark picture. Try replacing some of them in the power supply area and line stage. Also adjustments in the service mode, but for this you will need the service manual. Good Luck,JUS004

Color is gone in a sony kv-c2963e trinitron tv

as you say that color came back for 15 minutes then went off. this is a clear indication that there is a loose contact or pcb crack somewhere in color section only. if that happens to be ok then check 1 antena or cable socket loose 2 loose connector in color section 3 print open or crack near chroma signal processor. 4 loose near color control. 5 chroma ic night be defective. if you are not tech person take the help of tech.person.

Constant changes in picture colors.

It is a 20" TV set and will most likly, im afraid to tell you, cost more to fix then it is worth. The problem is a bad Picture tube, an intermittant CRT socket or the video jungle IC is intermittant. If you want to invest in an estimate, check out first if it will go towards the repair, as then maybe you can get it fixed at a good price, as long as the picture tube is not the problem Good Luck
