Re: sony kv-36hs510 36
The blinking LEDs indicates that the built-in protection
circuitry has detected a fault and in order to prevent further damages
stops the unit from energizing/powering on. Often 7 blinks indicate
probable area where to start diagnosis/checks. In your case, this would
"High Voltage Shutdown. The high voltage has
exceeded 33K and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check
power supply regulation and horizontal circuits."
course would require a fair familiarity of electronic
components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a
soldering iron. It would be to your added advantage access to a service
manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings.
Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), perhaps
your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified
professional or claim warranty repairs. Depending on the hardware faults, your location, prevailing service fees in your area, repair cost could be anywhere from 100 to 500 USD (wild guess).
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Jan 12, 2013 - I need help with my Sony TV. The red flashing light keeps going on and off. ITs on standby. can someone guide me as to how to fix the problem. ... I have a Bravia KDL52W3000 with a 7" wide dead pix... Television - Picture & Sound ... What is the exact model number of the Sony TV? Check if the same issue ...
Unfortunately, what you're describing is a repair
issue. You won't be able to address the problem with troubleshooting.
There is a part inside the TV that needs to be replaced. If you're
under warranty, this will cost you nothing. If you're not under
warranty the cost will likely be a minimum of $200 parts and labor.
However, be warned that the cost could be considerably higher.

For the last week my TV has been going to a black screen for 10 seconds or so then the picture returns. It has been continual. Last night it stopped going to black screen, but now the standby light flashes 5 consecutive times and the color went haywire. A lot of red and everything that is suppose to be black is green.
I did a soft and hard reset with no success. What's wrong and is it worth fixing? Bought new in November 2002.
7 years is quite a young age for a tv. I think that your problem has to do with the loose contacts in the circuitry. You can resolder the loose contacts this might resolve the problem.
Response is highly appreciated.
The Sony error codes go up to 7, so when the standby light flashes 11 times it usually means that one of the clock or data lines deep inside the set is shorted to ground. This is not fixable from the front or through the remote, so the set should be serviced by a qualified tech familiar with Sony sets.
