Intermittent control panel issues

Over the past few months, my dryer has been acting possesed! I can press any button on the control pad, and the dryer won't respond. The drum light comes on, so the unit has power. I can unplug the unit and plug it back in, and still nothing. I'll try it a few hours later, and it works like nothing's wrong. Now, when the dryer runs, it keeps beeping as the unit is running. It acutally dries the clothes fine when it works, but of course, doesn't work when you need it most. Before I go and replace a $200 circuit board on it, could you please let me know if it's the control circuit board, or is it something else?

Kenmore Elite Front Load Dryer #110.63046100

  • rjarnott35 Sep 14, 2008

ok, took the top apart, I disconnected and reconnected all harnesses going to the control panel. I reassembled and it worked normal. I found inside the control panel a troubleshooting guide that told how to run diagonstics on the panel..appeared normal. Turned it back around and the control panel is dead again. Any other ideas?

Check the harness output if the rated voltage is present ,this could the problem with broken wire or disconnected connector ,if every wire is correct and the rated voltage is present then this could the problem with control board itself you need to replace it ,before that try to connect in a different ac out power and check if it works..

Good luck....

Hi     the dryer works with the voltage of 250v 60z . u need multimeter or voltmeter to trouble shoot..   This switch, located on the control panel, is usually the push-button type. Start switches don't fail often, but it does happen. To check the start switch, remove the control panel and test the switch with a VOM set to the RX1 scale. Disconnect the leads from the switch terminals and clip one VOM probe to each terminal. Press the switch button. If the meter reads zero, the switch is working. If the needle jumps to a high reading, the switch is faulty and should be replaced. Replace the switch with a new one of the same type, connecting the new switch the same way the old one was connected.
thank u .. if any post me.

It sounds more like a loose wire(s), in this case is a bit more challenging to troubleshoot it due to the intermittent operation. There could also be just a loose solder joint in the control board as well but this condition might not be easily discernible without a magnification aid.
In many cases, a repair like this is not a DIY unless you can use a multimeter to check for continuity and voltages.

Check the wiring at the back of control panel board, it must be a bed soldering or a bad connector, should not be too difficult to fix.
If the problem is not on the control panel, follow wiring, eventually using a tester to find the broken circuit.

I quote from you : " I disconnected and reconnected all harnesses going to the control panel. I reassembled and it worked normal." then "Turned it back around and the control panel is dead again".

As I told you , check the wirings, check the control panel is not touching any metal part and shorting out when you fix it inside. If there is a contact you can try using a piece of a thick nylon plastic bag to insulate the panel from the cabinet.

If there is no apparent problem and the panel keeps malfunctioning, then the panel is faulty, replace it.

    You find replacements here.

I think this is the control board.

It should not be the board, however it may be a loose connection

How to repair stainless steel on a dryer drum

For my Frigidaire manufactured Kenmore dryer, the stainless steel drum is part ordinary painted steel (front flange). That flange is part of the suspension for the drum. The flange rides on a nylon wear pad above the door. On both sides of the pad, there is a felt that is glued to the dryer front panel to act as a seal. What happens is that the paint on the ordinary steel flange rubs through and rusts, staining clothes during the drying cycle. I have to replace the nylon pad and felts every few years to combat the rusting issue. The felt and nylong pad assembly is glued to the cabinet flange using heat resistant adhesive.

LG dryer DLE 3733S control panel inop but light on in drum. 3 years old intermittent problem, is this electronics panel going bad? if so, do we replace PCB Main or PCB Assembly? Thanks!

Check the power to the display panel after you have it removed. If there is no power check the lines to the control, If the power is present with no action on the panel then you will have to replace the board. It may be as simple as cleaning the board off, since it has been a intermittent problem in the past. hopes this helps Tim

Press and hold the cancel button for 1 minute till control lock goes off. If it does not go off their is a failure of either the Interface board (front panel with lights and buttons), Control board, loose or intermittent ribbon cables

Bravos Dryer blinking start button

Manual says it could be a number of things, and you should have a copy of the manual since you've only had the dryer 3-4 months. If not, go to the Maytag website and download.

Some things to check -

1) Press Start/Cancel if dryer was stopped in a middle of the operating cycle.
2) Check that one of the two breakers has not tripped or fuses blown (if an electric dryer) in your breaker panel.

Please reply the flashing code number so that I may can help you further.
