The software you need is Abbyy Sprint OCR. If it's not installed, I suggest running the printer setup again, making sure it's selected when you get to the software list. Perhaps you unchecked the box when you ran the installation the first time, or didn't know what it was and uninstalled it from your computer. You may be able to find it by hunting through the CD, but it will probably be easier to run the setup again.

SOURCE: Lexmark X2500 driver is missing OCR software

Sometimes companies only support only the basic drivers. The OCR software is on the CD (s) that came with the printer. Suggestion. Try to order the original CD from Lexmark., or search Ebay for programs that have OCR capability. You can use OCR programs from other vendors as long as they are stand-a-lone programs. Just make sure you have the original disc so as not to infringe on copyright privileges.

Note: you can buy OCR programs. Check Ebay and Amazon. They are usually better that the programs that come on the OEM disk.

Try this approach:1. Uninstall your existing printer driver. On your computer, go to Start menu > Programs > Lexmark X5600 Series folder > Tools > Uninstall. I need OCR folder for lexmark x4530
You can download and install the Lexmark OCR scan software using the installation disc that came with your printer only. The software is not available for downloading online.

I can't scan on my lexmark printer model x5650. When I scan a document it gives me the message " Install the OCR from the OCR folder". I can't find the OCR folder in my computer. What should I do".
The Lexmark OCR scan software is available in the installation disk that came with the printer. You can explore the installation disk and look for the Abby setup application in the OCR folder (for Windows). For Mac OS, right-click on the Install icon and choose Show Package Contents. Open Contents folder > open Package folder and manually install the Abby Finereader application.

Scanning - edit text
The scan software(OCR) can only be installed using the installation cd that came with your printer. It's not available for download since it's a big file. If you have the installation cd, just insert it in your computer to install the software. If you don't have or you lost it, I advise you to contact Lexmark at 1-800-LEXMARK(1-800-539-6275). Lost installation disk for my Lexmark x1240 all in one printer. I'm trying to scan a text document to edit but tells me I need to download/install OCR software in the OCR folder on that disc. Possible to...
go to this site http://downloads.lexmark.com/perl/downloads/downloads.cgi
put in your country etc.......
choose the x1240 in the driver box.......then search
choose windows vistamag-glass_10x10.gif from the operating dropdown box.......
click on download now and then install the new driver.....
