Question about Canon PowerShot SD630 Digital ELPH / IXUS 65 Digital Camera

4 Answers

Lens error I tried to turn off my camera, (Digital Ixus 60) and the lens froze halfway closed. When I tried to restart the camera, an error comes up on the screen, saying LENS ERROR, RESTART CAMERA. I had this problem before on this camera, but while it was still under warranty. I sent it to be fixed, but now it seems the problem isn't fixed. Is there anything I can do now?

i was on vacation with my family and my camera got thrown in the sand by my sister.... the camera had little problems after that point, other than the on/off buttons, the menu buttons, and the buttons to take pictures only worked probably 2% of the time.

now my sister has put pressure on the lens and it will not go back in. whenever i try to turn the camera on. it says LENS ERROR, RESTART CAMERA. at first i thought a peice of sand but now i figuew the entire lens may be broken. i dont know what to do, as the note in the manual says "IF PROBLEM PERSISTS TAKE TO PRODUCT SUPPORT LOCATION" only thing is i do not know where one is

and lens repair for a camera with an internal lens (especially a canon) can be quite pricey $$$$$$.

any help or advice as to where i could send this in or to get this problem resolved would be great. thanks.

this is wonerful. me and my friend decided to switch cameras for a week and hers breaks on me, the lens will not go in. so now i have to pay for it because i broke it apparently when all i did was turn it on.
anyone know a cheap way to get a camera fixed. my parents wont give me money and im 13.

nothing strange happened to the camera.  I use it quite often.  I just turned it on and the lens came out and won't retract.

The only thing is, is that it is past it's warranty. THE WARRANTY ONLY COVERS DEFECTS, AND FACTORY ERRORS.

IF THE LENS DOESNT GO BACK IN, THEY CANT FORCE IT AND YOU PAY THE FULL COST OF THE ENTIRE LENS BEING REPLACED AND THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT HAS AN INTERNAL LENS SO THE ENTIRE CAMERA HAS TO BE TAKEN APART WHICH IS QUITE PRICEY

Canon ixus 60 - lens error restart, restart camera

Dear God, It was like a comedy. I got on the whale boat, after having the Canon ixus 60 for 4 years. I've never had any error messages. The whales came 10 feet from the boat and twice raised their head, and no camera, just the beeping and the error message: lens error; restart camera. How do you restart the ixus 60 Canon digital camera, anyone? Please help!! Thanks Claire@klarity.org, Maui, Hawaii. Aloha!! & Mahalo.
