Hi,
Delete any files that to be written on empty cd. or else it could be from virus attack. update your anti virus program and scan for viruses. Like this you can fix the problem. If this doesn't work then install a new copy of windows. Thank you.

File will not rewrite to cd, computer does not reconize cd installed

Can it play a music CD or retrieve data from an existing one?
You can click start, my computer and at least see if your DVD
drive (D: usually) is there. If the inserted DVD or CD is good, it
will show free and used space. Your drive may have gone bad.
Some computer centers have walk in clinics and may be able
to determine that.

Music CD not recognized in drive

It could be your CD-RW software trying to write to the music CD check the settings in the CD-Drive proprieties. If you have to you can uninstall and reinstall the software. Before you replace the drive you might try some over the counter remedy's buy some compressed air/gas and a laser lens cleaner CD.you could also buy a CD cleaner for the CD's you are using. Problem with new dvd rewriter

Buy another IDE cable(if you didnt get one with the drive) and keeping the rewriter on master plug it in the secondary IDE channel on the motherboard.

So the config should be like this:
Primary IDE connector on the mobo (useually blue/black) connected to hdd set to master at the cable end
Secondary IDE connector on the mobo connected with a seperate cable (80 pin cable for high speed preferrably) to the rewritable set to master at cable end

Cheers
rate if its fixed

I can not open my disk rewriter please help

  • Most cd drives have a small pin hole located just below the mouth of the cd tray. If your cd rom is black this makes it much harder to notice and easy to miss. I have a picture or cd rom drive on the left. This will give you an idea of where that pin hole is located.

  • Use a small paperclip and insert it into that hole. You use the paperclip to find the lever that pushes the drive open. Usually you'll have to fiddle with finding the exact spot but it's not rocket science. Most cd drives should open if you find the right spot and push in with the paperclip.

  • If for what ever reason the drive does not open. Chances are mechanically the device has a moving part that has seized up and will no longer function normally. In this case It is better to take apart the cd rom with tools as it gives you insight on what part malfunctioned. Sometimes its as easy as a ruber band going out of place. Worse case scenario if it is completely broken cd drives are so cheap you can replace one with ease.

VGC-RB30 DVD/CDR DRIVE

You actually perhaps using a non blank disc at that time. Burners don't really accept non writeable Discs. Check your CD first before burning. If you are using a rewriteable disc (CD-rw) that has files, it can burn and files will be overwritten but if you're just using a CD-r with files in it, the burner will eject and will tell you to insert a blank disc.

May sound daft, but are you trying to load/use a DVD in a CD drive? My laptop at work is a CD Rewriter only, and I'm always trying to burn DVD's on it. Unsurprisingly, it spits them out....

Do you have to have "Secure Disc" installed before you can burn CD's? How do I transfer my music from windows media player to a disc using the external burner? Sorry, I'm computer challenged. ...

hi frankie;
you can use third party software to burn your songs into the disc or you can use the built in burner of Windows. What operating system are you using? some things you need to check before burning:

1. cd-rom capable of burning?
2. is it a cd rewritable or a dvd rewritable?
-you can use cd-r or cdrw on dvd rewritables but not dvd-r/dvdrw on cd rewritable.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
1. locate the songs you played on your media player in your computer, highlight it and right click one of the highlighted mp3 then select copy from the list
2. Insert the cd into your optical drive ( cdrom or dvd rom).
3. Open My computer and double click your optical drive icon.
4. Right click on the empty space inside that window and right click mouse then paste
5. There should be a link at the left side of the window that says "Write these files to CD"

***frankie; i would just like to remind you that the music burning im referring to is mp3 music, if you want to burn audio cd, you need 3rd party software for that.

Some cd players(discman, etc.) only play audio music format and not of mp3 format. Provide me details of what you want to do and i will help you. :)
