If that is the case you need to install printer sharing. Although you have to turn on the home computer every time you want to print. Another option is to use a print server wherein you do not need to have the home computer on. You just have to have the print server and the printer on to print from the laptop and or the home computer at any given time. If you would like to setup the printer sharing kindly message me.

Computer does not recognise scanner

Try using the Lexmark Printer Home. To access that, on your computer, click on Start > All Programs > Lexmark > Lexmark Printer Home.

If you don't see that option in your computer, just insert the installation CD and install the Lexmark Printer Home software.

How to connect to a laptop

Lexmark is one of the most popular printer manufacturers, and the installation process is fairly straightforward no matter what computer brand you have. Lexmark, however, doesn't always include all of the equipment required to hook up the printer. If you want to hook up your Lexmark printer to your Gateway laptop, you will probably need to purchase a printer USB cable.

1.Plug your Lexmark printer into the power outlet.
2.Turn on your laptop, or make sure all software programs are closed if your computer is already on.
3.Insert your installation disk into your Gateway laptop's CD or DVD drive. Wait for the "Welcome" screen to appear. If it doesn't appear after a minute, launch the installation CD manually by going to your start menu and clicking on "Run." In the "Run" field, type: D:\setup.exe
4.Press the "Install" button on your "Welcome" screen to go on to the "Introduction" screen.
5.Press "Continue" on the "Introduction screen" and press "Continue" again on the "Read Me" screen. Agree to the license agreement and follow any additional installation prompts.
6.Connect the Lexmark printer to your Gateway laptop when prompted. Plug the USB cable to the back of the Lexmark printer in the "Quick Connect Laptop Port." Then plug the other end of the USB to your Gateway laptop.

How do I get my laptop to to print on a Lexmark printer without the software?

Your printer will not print without the correct drivers installed in your computer. To locate and download your drivers, you can visit the Lexmark website.

Just enter the information requested and the website will direct you to the correct drivers.

Also, you'll need to know your printer's model number to obtain the drivers you need.

Lexmark website, click here: http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=localeSelect&jumppage=home

Lexmark X4850 wireless how to make it find the wireless network. I've had this printer working with my Vista laptop till recently; then I moved to another area, configured my new home network and Internet...

If the printer itself is wireless, it does not need to recognize your wireless computer network. Call Lexmark to walk you through proper installation. Lexmark's manuals are not adequate regarding setup, in my opinion.

Drivers for Lexmark x5470 disapear after the laptop is turned on.

Hey,

Fully uninstall the lexmark from your computer, everything, delete the printer from printers and faxes and make sure there is no trace of the printer on the computer.

Then get the files you downloaded and install the printer again.

Everything should work normally.

Thanks,
Ekse

Problem with installing the printer on my laptop

Depending on how old the Driver disk is, you may not have installed a Vista compatable driver. Go to the Lexmark webite below and download the driver for Vista. It looks like they only have one.

Have used Lemark X5150 with old computer for some time (windows 98SE Have just bought new computer - Pacfkard Bell with windows Vista Home Premium and cannot install printer etc on it. pop up just says...

Almost certainly you need to update your driver although I thought Vista already had this driver. Anyway try downloading Vista Printer driver from link and reinstalling your printer.

Lexmark 4270 will not install

I believe this will fix it for you as it did for me. I have a Lenovo laptop that updated from XP to Vista and the Lexmark 4200 X4270 All in One Printer would not print or scan. I had to do the following:
1. Delete all printers in control panel.
2. Do full update with Vista install disk
3. Make sure cable to Lexmark is not attached to Laptop until Vista does full update
4. Download the updated Lexmark Driver for whichever version of Windows you are running from the link provided below.
5.Install item in #4
6. Plug in cable to Lexmark and put the Lexmark SW installation disk in and it should finish itself for you.
