Question about Acer Aspire 3000 Notebook

1 Answer

Overheating Hi, I have an Acer 3000, have had it looked at by a technician, he tells me it was shutting down after short periods of time due to overheating. On further inspection, he informs me the cooling fan thing has corroded and needs a new one. My question is, do you know where I may be able to source a used/second-hand one from, preferably without having to look overseas. Or, are you able to hook me up with one, I would be extremely grateful. Unfortunately this, (was bought in used condition) is the second Acer laptop I've had thats broken down on me and I would like to get this one up and running rather than throw it away like the previous one. PLEASE HELP.

if the fan does not work entirely that is one issue and i'll do my best to locate a source for a fan for you.... but if it needs to be cleaned and the dust removed you won't need to buy a fan....

Hello,
Do you see any error messages? Does it lose all power when it shuts down?
It could be an overheating issue. I suggest you get it checked by a technician.

My acer aspire 3000 turns off suddenly when am watching videos and also when am installing office.

Turn off( shut down or restart automatically)?

It maybe cause from overheating from your graphic memory device/harddware or problem with your processor.

Are you have using fan or anyelse to cooldown your laptop during you using it?
Try something, using any fan that can cold and maintain temperature for your laptop to avoid it from overheating. Overheating is not good. It will cause your motherboard problem or screen monitor problem.

Fan making noises overheating?

This is a very common problem with Acer Aspire5315 Notebook and in some cases the Laptop automatically just shuts down and things get very annoying in hot summers

If you have not opened a Laptop before then I will strongly recommend you to take this Laptop to a technician and get it serviced in front of yourself. The technician should open the body of the Laptop take out and blow air into the fan which should remove a lot of dust choking the fan making this noise. The other parts should also be cleaned in the laptop service process such as the fan duct leading to the CPU. When service is done on this PC it will remove 80% of the problem.
If you still face the sudden shut down problem. It will be due to the flakiness of the fan and you need to download a software usually developed by third parties and sometimes free to download just use the right keywords on you search engine and easy to install and which controls the timing of the CPU fan to start and stop.

Maybe it's your power supply, I suggest you get a voltmeter and check the voltage on the power supply.

Good luck

Overheating issue - looking for service manual

I had the same problem. And i believe my method has the fix.

On the bottom side of the laptop, unscrew the door to access the CPU Fan....(closest to the power supply)
Make sure the system is OFF and not plugged in or no battery in.

You will see 2 tabs on the copper heat sync that holds it down to the cpu.
Unscrew both the visible tabs.
Bend Both Tabs upward to where when you screw it back down there will be resistance.
What that will do is secure the heatsync to the die of the CPU.

replace the CPU door, and start her up.
Hope this helps ya'll
