Panasonic SC-AK630 CD Shelf System

Getting "no disc" error msg everytime a disc is inserted. Tried all disc's through the stacker and many different disc's. Disc's are clean. Have opened the box and cleaned the lens, but still same problem.
The disc is'nt spinning after loading. Lokks like either the lens is'nt funtioning or the disc motor is'nt working.
Thanks in advance for any ideas

regards doug

Luckily the unit was still under warranty when I had this problem.
So it was repaired by replacing a faulty PCB by an authorised repairer.

Sorry I cant help with any costings.

Cheers
I have the same problem.

My System gives me either "ERR" or "Disc" on the digital Display Window, tried every CD, cleaned the Lens, still the same Problem!! This is happening since I bought the Stereo System a few Days ago-from another Person, but still brandnew in the Box.. What else can I do? I don't have the receipt for it.

Thanks, MoniGee.

You're probably right to suspect the motor, since its not spinning, and the lens is clean.

I recently had a "no disc" error that was fixed by general mechanic maintnance- taking apart the lens mechanism, cleaning, oiling and putting back together. If youre lucky it could also be your problem, and it should be a minimum repair fee.

Good luck

I just bought this stereo used today, and it wouldn't play--I opened up the back (you have to take out EVERY screw) and a CD had fallen below the CD changer and above the CD reader. I removed it, and now my CD player is perfect. Very easy fix, and it'd be hard to break anything doing it.

Could be the program you are using for burning the disk. That is what it was for me. Use Roxio.

I get the same error and I took it apart. Looks like the motor doesn't spin at all. How can I fix this? Or how can I get a new drive or motor? How much does it cost to get it fix?

I didn't know others had exactly this same problem. I bought my 2×25w RMS "AIWA MICRO HIFI COMPONENT SYSTEM XR-EM550" for 159 EUR in Dec 2004. Played fine, but a few months ago the CD stopped working: inserting a CD results in "NO DISC" message, motor doesn't turn. Mine is dusty, so I cleaned it (including lens), no avail. Still works perfect now (Feb 208) for everything else: RDS FM, or connecting my PC to its (excellent) speakers, or various functions (like waking me with nice radio every morning).

Having the same problem. My CD disc cleaner always did the trick with my computer and my commercial sound system but not this home stereo system. So, you are saying to take this to a repair shop and it should cost a minimum fee?

disc not finalized message comes up every time a disc is inserted. I have cleaned the lense but still am having the same problem. The disc will spin as if it is going to start playing.

CD player reads "No Disc" when CDs are inserted. Also I need a diagram of how the belt should run on the turntable.
