Question about Panasonic SC-AK630 CD Shelf System
I just bought this stereo used today, and it wouldn't play--I opened up the back (you have to take out EVERY screw) and a CD had fallen below the CD changer and above the CD reader. I removed it, and now my CD player is perfect. Very easy fix, and it'd be hard to break anything doing it.

Could be the program you are using for burning the disk. That is what it was for me. Use Roxio.

We have found this to be the 16 way flat flex connector. failed where it was folded on exit of the cd drive.

I get the same error and I took it apart. Looks like the motor doesn't spin at all. How can I fix this? Or how can I get a new drive or motor? How much does it cost to get it fix?

You're probably right to suspect the motor, since its not spinning, and the lens is clean. I recently had a "no disc" error that was fixed by general mechanic maintnance- taking apart the lens mechanism, cleaning, oiling and putting back together. If youre lucky it could also be your problem, and it should be a minimum repair fee. Good luck

SOURCE: CD player
Could be the classic dirty lense syndrom... If you know how to get to it, expose the laser lense, and gently brush any accumulated dust/dirt from it. There might be multiple slots, but only 1 lense. If you have a cd cleaner available you might want to try that out first, it doesn't always do the same job, but it can save you the risk of something else happening when you open it up. Good luck

SOURCE: How do you reset the 5 cd disk?
Try this to rest unit. With cd selected press and hold 'Stop' for about 5 sec. keep holding then press and hold 'skip FF' for about 5 more sec. Take off power then unplug unit, then power back on. A line shows across the screen if it works.

Tips for a great answer:
Check the disc you're using for scratches and dirt. If the disc is damaged it won't play properly, regardless of the CD player's ability to function. You can use a CD repair device like the "Disc Doctor" to repair the CD or purchase a new CD.
Clean the laser lens with a CD laser lens cleaning disc. CD laser lens cleaning discs can be purchased at most electronics retailers or online. Insert the laser lens cleaning disc and follow the instructions.
Insert a correctly-formatted, undamaged disc into your player. Listen to see if it begins to read the disc. If it continues to make no sound and gives you the same message, then the problem is probably that your disc is not spinning in the device.
Clean the lens while the DVD player is open. A dirty lens is most likely the cause of your no-disc error. The lens should be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab.
