setup wizard asks me to put in disc, my maxtor basics portable hard drive never came with one, how can i set it up as i need to download data onto it

You don't say what OS you are using. For Windows 2000 or above, you probably don't need a driver, or any sort of set-up, just plug in the drive and look for a new driver letter in "My Computer".
For Win 98, you will need a driver - try here:
