Sim card reader not working.

Does the card still work in the device you took it out of? Have you tried a different card in the computers reader?

If the card still works in the device you took it out of, plug the device directly into the computer to download. Then format the card and try to read it again in the computer. If this works could be a format error, if the card does not work in either device, bad card.

If another card works in the reader, put it in the device you are using (digital camera, phone, ect) and put something on it. Then try using the computer reader. If it works great. If not, your device is formating the card in away the computer does not recognize.

If non of the above work, look in device manager and see if there is any ? marks next to anything. If there is go to Gateways website and look for the updated drivers for you computer. This is a good idea anyway, since drives are updated all the time and having current ones help reduce issues.

Hope one of these items helps

Advent 8315 disc drive not working

Here's a description of your drive, though the device manager should be able to give you the exact model #. And here's a link to a support site that has drivers, manuals, etc for your laptop. Here are a few steps to work through to confirm that the drive itself is bad. I think since it never worked you should check the jumper settings and cables at least, to make sure things are connected properly. I'd stay away from registry cleaners, as they can cause more harm than good. Also see number 13 in this link to check that you've enabled the dvd gallery in vista.
On the other hand, the drive could be faulty. A local computer tech will be able to test it for you.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Lcd connection

Hi,

It would be uncommon for a laptop not to have a function key, Fn. This would be normally located somewhere bottom left of the keyboard often after the CTRL key and/or before the Windows key. Further, it is often required to press the Fn key + F? key where the F? would be one of the F keys with the small monitor icon.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

I have an advent 8315 and last week i powered on and connected to the internet when it just shut down. All lights went off and would not restart or turn on since.Have never had the battery in it use only...

If you have a battery to test it with and there is still no power then a common defect is the power jack itself. You would need to have the technical proficiency to troubleshoot that circuit. If you do not have a battery to test that possibility you might ask a repair shop to just put one in before you buy one as the possibility of a bad motherboard exists. Steve Medley

Multi card reader fault after re-boot?

I have a akasa internal 3.5 card reader, 4 slots and a usb port, no fans. Installed ok and worked one time then dissappeared in my computer and device manager.

Looking at the plug it had a wire in where a dummy connector on the motherboard connects. Took the cover off the card reader and looked at the other end and on that connectot no wire. Reversed the lead and all up and running. No Quality assurance any more!
