You had replied to a question that I asked.

It was regarding a 57" Hitachi wide screen model # 57UWX20B. The green projector works occasionally. Most of the time, the picture has a pink tint to it but for short periods of time the picture looks normal. I feel that this is a board problem not a projector problem. Is this worth or possible to fix?

Thanks for your time,

John

This could be something as simple as a poor solder connection on the board. If you can solder, resolder any connection on any of the boards that appears to be grainy or has rings. That is the first step. That may resolve the problem. If not, try to determine whether or not there is a pattern to the appearance of the problem and post that info here.

Thanks,
Dan

How do i fix this dip line its model 57 uwx 20 b

Look like RG convergence is out , but it's hard to tell from the pic
if you can't correct it with the set up in " convergence " on the setup menu , then your Convergence chips are failing

if you handy with a screw driver and a soldering iron you can swap out the chip yourself since it's not worth taking to a repair shop
cost for the chips 65.00 -70 , you can get cheaper if you shop around

Hitachi 57UWX20B 57 in.

Projection TV sets have two very common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Hitachi 57uwx20b

First of all there is no light engine inside your set. Your model is CRT based. Can you better describe what you mean by the green only working occasionally? What exactly is the picture doing? Also, please confirm that your model is: 57UWX20B.

Thanks,
Dan

Hitachi 57uwx20b

Do not adjust any knobs as instucted in the previous thread if you TV have a convergence problem. Doing so will only make things worse. The blog does however show you how to fix other common problems with these sets.

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

2c07611.pngSolution #1

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Magnavox model 6P5440

You can turn up the Screen controls in back of set. Look for the focus block that has 6 controls on it. 3 are for the screen and 3 for the focus, in each color Red, Blue, Green. need to turn evenly to keep color balanced. On set turn color all the way down and then get a good black and white picture.
