What is difference between on an auto on thermostate

I'm not sure exactly how this applies specifically in a car, but on a home heating and cooling (air conditioning) thermostat, it is often associated with the fan or blower setting.

If for a system fan:

"Auto On" setting in a heating / cooling system would start the fan when the temperature climbed above or dropped below the setting you on the thermostat and start the heat or cooling source. Once the thermometer indicates the desired temperature had been reached, the heating / cooling source would be stopped and the fan would turn off.

"On" would run the fan all the time, regardless if the thermostat tired to start the heat or cooling source. This would result in constant circulation of the air in the space(s) and tend to keep warm or cool spots (rooms) from being created.

Hi i have a wireless room thermostat i wish to fit to my potterton boiler can anyone advise me thanks

in general-
wireless thermo has 2 units - room thermo and furnace rcvr.
if thermo is battery powered no wires to connect - if not needs 24V connected - then why do they call it wireless?
rcvr connects to same 4 wires as current therm except at the furnace - 24v power and 2 control lines
I can't remember the color code except red/black is +24v/common
but I have found them messed up by "professional" installers so u need to verify before connecting or go by the terminal labeling.

Have a honeywell thermo 7 day .how to change for centerage to farenheight

1. Turn system off.

2. Simultaneously press up & down arrows for 3 seconds.

3. You will then see a display with a large number to the left and a small number to the right.

4. You should then see a large #1 and a small #1.

5. You want to change that 1(Celsius) to a 0(Fahrenheit).

6. Do that by pressing up or down arrow.

7. Once you've changed that small 1 to a 0 you then press both the up and down buttons for 1 second about three more times to take thermostat back to original screen.

8. Now you should see your room temperature reading in Fahrenheit.

Heat pumps require specific heat pump thermostat. If you are trying to install a thermostat that is generic forget it. A heat pump is a diff animal than a central unit. Get the thermostat that matches your system. A generic won't cut it.

Position of ceiling diffusers for a ducted warm air heating syste

You want the air to distribute through the room as evenly as possible. You don't want the air to blow down in one spot. In a room where a thermostat is located make sure the air doesn't blow toward the thermostat or this will make the unit turn off before the desired temp is reached.

Improper Termperature Readings during AC run

personally i'd just replace the thermostat, but try pulling the front panel off and look on the circuit board and see if there is a jumper for F/C or any other settings. you may try changing its position. you can also remove the batteries for 15 minutes and see if it resets itself. the only other thing it could be is a wiring issue.

I have a vitodens 100-w combi boiler and tried to turn the heating on just to give it a working as was advised. However, I have no heat coming to my radiators. The boilers seems to be working as my hot...

Here's the deal: If your Vitodens 100 has outdoor temperature sensing capability, either built in or via external aftermarket control such as Tekmar or other, and the temperature outside is above warm weather shut down (WWSD), then the boiler will not operate for space heating, but will operate to make Domestic Hot Water (DHW) only. Generally speaking WWSD is facoty set at 20*C, since this is normal room temperature so the boiler will not need to operate at temperatures above this number as it is warm enough outdoors to heat the house to comfortable levels.
If your Vitodens 100 does not have outdoor temperature sensing capability then you should check to see if your room thermostats are operational and calling for heat since the boiler is only responding to this on-off control based on room temperature. (turn up your room thermostats)
In both cases you need to make sure that your heating system's distribution pump and zone valves are operating correctly.
In any case you should be calling a heating contractor if you suspect that there is a problem with your boiler and/or heating system.
Good luck.

Non-cooling

- Calibrate your electronic thermostat if it is accurate. If not then replacement is needed.
- Check the location of your electronic thermostat, it may be installed in the room where its too cold.
