My tv says "line" and channels won't work

My tv says "line" and the screen is black, but when i try to use the channel buttons to move up or down, nothing happens. i have also tried to hook up my cable wite to the tv and nothing happens. i don't see a button where i can adjust the set up (on the actual tv as i don't have a remote) what should i do to make the tv work again (or to get into the set up options to try to fix it?) sarah

Re: my tv says "line" and channels won't work

This is what I did:

- go to the Main Menu
- select TV
- on TV menu change the INPUT from LINE to TUNER

That's it!!

Stay Blessed.

Re: my tv says "line" and channels won't work

I found the problem, if you dont have a remote. look under the 2 buttons used for the VCR portion of the tv set. it says "action" press both buttons at the same time and your menu will come up , and you can program everything and set the set back to the TV part versus the "LINE" in setting.. hooray for me !!! holla @ if you need more help

Re: my tv says "line" and channels won't work

I had the same issue. I purchased a universal remote for about $10 and was able to fix it. Once you get the universal, you'll have to check to make sure the V-chip is turned off. Good Luck

Re: my tv says "line" and channels won't work

"line" means the TV is set to recieve signal from an external source. To check this try and connect an external source to the TV and see if you get a picture. That way at least you'll get some use out of the TV. You could try getting another remote from ebay, or ask a shop that sells pana TV's for advice on how to get one that will work with yours. Good luck, wish there was more i could do...

I can't get the VCR mode off the TV screen in order to watch TV.

try looking for either "source" button on the remote or ""input" choice. also you can try using the channel changing buttons, sometimes you can get out of vcr mode by just going up or down on the channel selector

Black Box on screen

By your description it sounds as though the closed captioning option has been turned on on the TV. Only certain programs are CC capable and that accounts for the box moving from channel to channel as some broadcasts are not CC CAPABLE. Go to the menu on the tv and ensure closed captioning is disabled. This should resolve the issue. If you need more help please let me know.

Only receive 2 channels.

Can you punch in the channel numbers directly to go to the channels, but just not tune to them with the Channel Up/Down buttons?
If so then try tapping the favorite button on the remote until the screen shows "favorite mode off". This mode likes to stay [or perhaps turn] on when you scan for channels, but scanning clears everything in the favorite list except for the channel you are on when you start the scan (so it seems), thus leaving only one or two channels showing up. (This happens whenever I re-scan for digitals.)
To pick out favorite channels, go into the channel menu in the tv menu and with "Favorite: Analog" or "Digital" highlighted near the top, hit OK on the remote to toggle favorite status.
