Denon AVR-1908 won't power on

Are you getting a standby light at all? Is it flashing? Do you here a click when you plug the unit in? If the answer is no to all of these then you blew a fuse. If you do have soome sort of standby light, then your set is in protect mode. More than likely for a blown channel. If no lights, but you ar egetting a click, you could have a bad transformer. Use a DVM and see if it is open or not. Good luck

15 year old receiver says protect how do i reset?

Hi, I start with one question..
Have it started to do this suddenly or you after have changed something on the system ?
i.e ..speaker position , or speaker cables or anything ?
The reason I asked ,your description is directly relates to short circuit on the speakers and/or it's
wires ..Receivers protection circuit activates itself if there is a short either inside (less probability )
and speakers (mostly )..
in case you have not changed any cabling recently ,I recommend you to check anyway all of the speakers wires at both sides/ends (Receiver side and Speaker side )
carefully ..
please let me know if you wish to have more help
but with more description...
Regards

I am playing Cd's and have a pair of Definitive Technology- Model BP-10 tower speakers connected to my Technics SA-DX1040 5.1 Channels Receiver and while the music is playing, all of a sudden the music...

There are 2 major possibilities and since you didn't say if the sound comes back here's the general split.
1. The power amp section could be having problems and/or protection circuits are kicking in. In this case repair of the amp will be needed.
2. There is a bad connection somewhere making the audio path go bad. In this case a good can of contact cleaner applied to all switches and controls may help. If not, the bad connection may be internal. If tapping (or rapping) on the unit makes it come back, there's probably a bad internal connection.
If letting the unit cool down brings back the sound, its the power amp section.

Getting out of protect mode I have a Denon 787 receiver. It was working fine for 8 months. All of sudden, my reciever goes into protect mode after playing for about 30 min. Right after it goes into protect...

most of the receivers come with a cooling fan inside see if its working they usually work when you turn the volume up,, if its working that means you are playing it to loud if you lower the volume a little it will play just fine..( if the fan inside is not working thats the reason it goes into protect mode and it means you must have it repaired,, it goes into protect mode to prevent furter damage to the unit or the speakers,,

Protector push power - dvd home theater system

Protect mode will kicking whenever a fault is detected.

Causes that can start protect mode are:

Electrostatic harges on internal circuits.
Leave the unit unplugged for power for one hour or so, this will allow discharge.

Bad speaker wiring.
Check speaker wiring, try unplugging and plugging back, or start after removing one speaker at the time.

Internal fault.
Internal fault is the natural cause for protect mode. If all the above did not work, then the problem is a blown component or an internal fault. In this case the unit must be taken apart , tested and repaired by an experienced person.
If the unit is less than one year old, or if you want to get service, call Sony at the phone number listed on the product documentation.

Regards.

My iluv i552 speakers were playing then suddenly went off

I don't think you can.  If you're pushing it that hard, it's going to go into protection mode every time.  You can solve it by getting a bigger amp,  but that's all I know to do.
Good luck.  Rocker.

Won't power on

Our VSX-515-S quit suddenly while playing when it was turned up quite loud. The power would not come back on. I disconnected it, and opened it up. No fuses were blown, but there was no voltage in the power supply. When I pressed the on button, I could hear a very faint click, but no power. I even took some parts out and replaced them.

I went on line and bought a service manual download for $7.95.

Within 5 minutes, I found where the service manual said if there was a DC overload, the power would cut off. To reset, press the ENTER + ADVANCED SURROUND key simultaneously and hold for 3 seconds.

I did this and the power came back on. It even remembered the last FM station it was tuned to. Problem s.olved

Not powering on

1. The power cord is not completely insered. 2. the impedance selector switch on the rear panel is not fully set to the upper or lower end - (set it when the unit is in the standby mode) other then that, you will have to call for a service.

Overload on Technics SA-AX710 Receiver

first of all, check all the capacitors. Other than that, it needs a repair guy to have a poke about inside it with a screwdriver. Has anything happened to it lately that could have upset it a little bit? such as a powercut or had anything done to the plug? (e.g. change of fuse, and put in one that was a different rating) And is it plugged into a surge protection socket, or a plain old fashioned electrical socket?
