Frigidaire freezer compressor is hot to the touch and not cold inside

If the compressor is hot to touch and it is not cooling, contact a service professional as soon as you can. Sounds like you have a sealed system issue or cooling restriction and you don't want to ruin any food items in the unit.

Dont know how old this frigde is. hs power to it but no motor noise and not getting cold

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.

Sounds like the cold control has stuck . Unplug the two wires from the cold control and plug them together. Turn one wire over and plug it into the other. away from the cold control.
The cold control is the knob in the ref that turns it on and off and has numbers on it. (Thermostat)
If it runs then that cold control (Thernostat) is the problem.
If that doesn't work DO THIS:
The relay on the compressor may need replaced
A relay starts the compressor with a higher voltage and then quickly kicks out
Thats what is happening with yours
Its best for a tech to replace The relay but you can do it
Take your model number to your Local Appliance parts store they will have a diagram
showing you how to install the relay. Its called a hard start relay
also try hooking the two wires together on the cold control to route around the cold control.

Bought a new whirlpool refrigerator for the garage and was told by the salesman at Lowe's that it will still operate. Now I hear if the weather gets below 30 degree it will not operate. Is that true...

One thing that would concern me is the temperature that the compressor will go down to.

With a cold, or very cold, compressor the oil inside it will be sluggish possibly causing motor start up problems. There is also the fact that the refrigerant will have migrated to the coldest spot, namely the compressor, and this refrigerant will wash away any lubricant on start up.

The first thing I would suggest is that you fit a crankcase heater to the bottom half of the compressor and provide a permanent power supply to it.

This unit was purchased new 61 months ago. First instance of any problems, ever, today it seems food isn't being kept frozen solid. We suspect the compressor is having a problem. There was no sound...

Yes it is a very big concern. It sounds to me like your condenser is dirty and the compressor gets hot and goes off on overload. You can tell by putting your hand NEAR the compressor.Be careful as the compressor can be very hot

After moving frigde and freezer quit.

Your compressor start relay has become loose or possibly defective.
Push it back on for a good connection.
Watch it when you plug the fridge in.
If it sparks replace it.

Frig and Freezer not working.

Beware I bought a Frigidaire side by side in 2006 and the compressor went out in March 2008, the warranty was out in Jan, and the repair man came out and said it was a 2004 model, you might have the same one as I had, they know the compressors are bad in the frig's and you only pay,$160.something if I remember. It sounds just like the problem I had, good luck!

Frigidaire gallery frigde is not cooling

If you never hear fan running in freezer, this could be the case. How old is this unit? Newer ones have a electronic defrost board. Older ones have a mechanical defrost timer.
If the fan in the freezer is on, and not getting cold...could be a compressor, or the relay/overload on the compressor. You'll need to check for voltage at the 2 wires at compressor. Should have about 110 volts when the freezer fan is on. If you have 110, Unplug unit and remove relay/ overload from compressor and shake it. If it rattles, you probably need the relay/overload. If this unit is only a few years old, it may be a compressor. We see these fail on these. Does it make a load hum for less than a minute followed by a click. And then after a bit, does it again. This is usually a bad compressor.
