You need to look in the handbook that cam with your motherboard for a section labeled 'Connectors' or possibly 'Connections'. There will be one USB 2.0 type prong on the motherboard that is designated for case connections [Power LED, mini-speaker, etc.]. The manual for the motherboard will indicate what order and where on the motherboard your connectors should go.
Good luck with your build. :]

thanks for your reply i know were the the normal pled, hdled, etc go but i have 2x hdd led conectors from the front panel as it has a lcd display with tep harddrive and fan info.?

Your motherboard would have to support the display and be able to broadcast information to it. If it is able to, it should make some reference to it in the manual.

Transferring motherboard from Gateway SX2801-07E to another case. How do I connect the motherboard front panel headers?

  1. Identify the headers: Locate the front panel headers on the new case and on the motherboard. Make sure that you have identified the correct headers and that they are compatible with each other.
  2. Check the pinout: Refer to the manual for the new case to determine the pinout for the front panel headers. Make sure that it matches the pinout listed for the motherboard, as mentioned above.
  3. Connect the wires: Use the pinout information to connect the wires from the new case to the appropriate pins on the motherboard. Make sure that each wire is securely connected and that there are no loose wires that could cause a short circuit.
  4. Connect the HDD LED: The HDD LED can be connected to pins 13 and 14 of the front header (LEDH1).
  5. Connect the power LED: The power LED can be connected to pins 3 and 4 of the front header (LEDH1).
  6. Connect the reset switch: The reset switch can be connected to pins 7 and 8 of the front header (LEDH1).
  7. Connect the power switch: The power switch can be connected to pins 10 and 11 of the front header (LEDH1).
Make sure that you connect the wires correctly and securely, as an incorrect connection can cause damage to the motherboard or the front panel components.

Hi Badboy !

you can type the name on the motherboard on Google e.g : asrock m3a ucc pdf

You will find the pdf manual right away. On the 20 th page you will see how to connect the HDD led .I think the case should only have one led for the HDD if it has 2 leds just ignore it because the motherboard has only one place where you can put that led. Be careful and good luck !

Changed the pc case and i can't find power led and hdd led, can you please help me with the labelled motherboard?ASUS P5GD2-TMX/S

Power and HDD LED's are on the front of the computer case. The connectors for them are there and they can only plug in to one place usually if not the board is labeled as you say . You can't hurt it so try plugging them in where they fit.

Dell Asus M2N61-AX MB front panel connector Nix ATX Gaming case

I assume you mean the HDD,reset,on switch etc where they plug onto the mobo.

Most mobos are labelled on the board but you will need good eyesight to read. They are labelled HDD, RESET, SPEAKER etc.

If not simply look up mobo manual from vendors site. You will need the DELL serial / part number from the old unit though.

I have just gotten a new PC case, but can't find the pwr conn.

The front panel connector is close to the SATA connectors. If you look real close (as in flashlight and magnifying glass) at the printing on the motherboard, you will see "pwr_led", "pwrsw", "hdd led", and "reset" printed on the board. Just match what it says on the wires to what it says on the board. Polarity only matters with the LED's. If they don't work, just swap the leads.
Here is the manual for that mobo:

If the computer powers-on, you've found the "power" connector.

TRYING TO HOOK UP MU POWER BUTTON NEED TO KNOW

Hi there
The front panel connectors are mainly,
  • harddisk activity connector
  • power switch connector
  • reset switch connector
  • power LED connector
  • speakers connector
  • USB connector
Harddisk activity connector
This normally comes red in colour and is labeled as HDD-LED
Power switch connector
This comes green in colour and is labeled as POWER-SW
Reset switch connector
This usually comes grey in colour and is labeled as RST-SW
Power LED connector
This is usually green in colour and is labled as PWR-LED
Speakers connector
This speaker will give different beep sounds during boot to tell the user if there is any errors. It occupies 4 pins, however only 2 is important for the function. Be sure to connect the red coloured cable to the positive polarity and the black to the negative.

Upgrading BTX Motherboard

Hi, I think you are looking at the front USB pin aray connector. The on/off switch and LED light pins are usualy along the edge of the board nearest the front of the case. They will be marked with ID: lettering:- pwrs, hdd led, rs-sw, pwr led. If your case has one block plug you will haave to gently seperate the segments and plug them on one at a time. The power and reset switch will work either way but the LED will only work when plugged the right way around, it wont do any harm if they are plugged backwards they just wont work, so experiment. regards mistyman
