This is a Canon Pixma MP780 all in one, and the problems I describe are not listed in the manual.

  • sramzz Sep 09, 2008

While the suggestion to look in the manual is valid, the manual for Canon Pixma MP780 does not address the problems I've described, i.e will not print, memory light is blinking, when I push power off, message says can't shut down, machine in use.

Thank you, the printer is functioning again

Connect the telephone line cord to the appropriate port on the device. The telephone line cord must be connected correctly for the device to function properly if any before powering the printer device

Try to unplug the power and USB cable of the printer for about 5 mins then plug it back in. Check if you can print again. If not, go to Printers and Faxes, Right click the printer icon and click "Use Printer Online". Last option is Uinstall and Reinstall the driver of your printer. Use the setup CD that came with it. Do not plug the printer until the wizard told you to do so.

I changed the cartridges in my 1315. Won't print or scan and reads door open

The below steps is not confirmed that it a fix, but you can try the below step. This is called as a printer partial reset. Uses fixes most of the general issues. Clears the memory in the printer (speed dial etc..)
  1. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.
  2. Wait 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the back of the product.
  4. When the lights on the product control panel begin to flash, press and hold the On/Resume button (c01590957.gif ) and the Size button. Illustration: Press and hold On/Resume and Paper Size buttons c01581916.jpg
  5. When only the On/Resume button (c01590957.gif ) is flashing, release both buttons. The reset is complete when the button light stops flashing.
  6. Try printing again.

How do you check the memory when solid green light

Here are the instructions for at least printing what is in your memory, and how to delete the memory as well.

You can download the entire user manual (in PDF format) from the link below (the download is on the right-side of the page, about 1/3 of the way down the page):

Here are the instructions for retrieving the fax's from the memory:

(I found this at: http://safemanuals.com/annexe_MX310%20series%20Easy%20Setup%20Instructions_CANON_PIXMA%20MX310-_E.htm
)

Printing a List of Documents in Memory
The machine can print a list of documents stored in memory (the memory list) showing the
transaction number (TX/RX NO.), transaction mode, recipient, number of pages, date, and
transmission time of each document. When printing or deleting documents in memory, specify a
document by its transaction number.
1 Press the FAX button, then press the Menu button.
2 Press the [ or ] button to select MEMORY REFERENCE.
3 Press the OK button two times.
The memory list is printed.
Printing or Deleting a Document in Memory

Press the FAX button, then press the Menu button.
2 Press the [ or ] button to select MEMORY REFERENCE.
3 Press the OK button.

Hope this helps!

The thing is, in the back of the printer you have a column of jacks, the one on top has an icon of a phone and the one on bottom has a picture of an “L” or laptop. TAKE YOUR USB CORD OUT OF EITHER ONE OF THOSE, NO MATTER WHICH ONE IT MAY BE. What you may not have figured out by now is that there is a THIRD jack that is nowhere near those two. If you’re facing the front of the printer to the far right of the backside of the machine, there is this deep cavity that has your third, miracle jack in it. It’s even more to the right than the two jacks I described previously and its icon looks like a sideways, three-pronged cactus. Plug the square end of the USB cord into that jack, and the In Use/Memory light should stop blinking, and your printer can stop acting like car because the annoying, turn-signal clicking should stop as well. :)

Fame!.

Keep getting 10.00.03 supplies error, have tried turning the machine off and on several times.

10.00.03 - The printer cannot read or write to the yellow print cartridge memory tag.

Solution:

Turn the printer off and then back on again.

If error returns, remove all print cartridges and turn off the printer.

Cold reset the printer:

Turn on the printer.

Watch the control panel.

When the memory starts counting, press and hold the green (Select) button.

Continue holding the green check button until the Ready, Data, and Attention lights flash once, and then stay on steady.

Release the check button when the Ready, Data, and Attention light are on steady.

The control panel will display SELECT LANGUAGE.

Press (Down Arrow) button once. The control panel will display COLD RESET.

Press (Select). The printer will perform a cold reset and then continue its power-on sequence.

Wait for the printer prompt to install each print cartridge.
This should return the machine to operating condition. If you still get the error, replace the yellow print cartridge.
