When i open media center my tv is not available and when i go to set up tv it says error no tuner hardware or drivers present. but we restored to factory specs. with recovery disk option. some one sade it was something about the codecs
I restored my computer back to original factory settings as well as recovery drivers and applications disks and now media centre says no tuner hardware installed or drivers or may be malfunctioning. There was no problem wit it before i restored to factory settings. How can i fix this?
I have already tried downloading original drivers package and utilities package from vaio but no effect?

Re: no tuner error on sony media center
The problem must be either because of Hardware or software. You are saying that you already tried installing new drivers and softwares for the tuner card and checked, but its bad luck. So it seems the hardware device may be failed. So first ensure the hardware working properly by plugging tuner card into any of your friends system. If it works properly, then it must be surely software problem. We can try installing any other version of device drivers and softwares and make it work.

In windows 7 - Windows Media Center will use it (NOT media PLAYER, media CENTER) media center is actually wicked cool for watching TV because if you have cable, no more waiting for the listings channel...it pulls up to 2 weeks of listings from your provider, so you can schedule shows to be recorded, record series etc...very cool!
Media Center.M View your photos in a cinematic slide show, browse your music collection by cover art, easily play DVDs, watch and record TV shows, download movies, and project your home videos.
Windows Media Center offers built-in support for archiving TV shows directly to video DVDs and a platform for content owners to deliver new online entertainment services and experiences.U For U.S.-based customers, Windows Media Center offers support for digital cable service, by means of a digital cable tuner.
Frankly speaking I'm using Windows 7 but never had the need of using media center. It cost huge on system resource when running,Even when you watch video it will load other features too when the Media Center start. you can uninstalled it without any worry.
here is the page link on how to disable and uninstalled Media center.why I am giving you this link is, it can't be uninstalled using windows same old add/remove program tools in control panel.
I've had the same problem with two other unrelated HP input products in this area myself so I understand the pain. Media Center is not really well geared for nor is very friendly in the end user component input area. I'm assuming you've already tried playing a video file from your camcorder while setting up the Media Center input settings? Try a different software that will recognize your input card. Ideally, you should use any input software that came with the card itself from the manufacturer. Contact the manufacturer for a link to the original software bundle if you can't find it from their website or you may need to research your own replacement software solution for this product.

Reinstall the drivers, just put the driver CD given along with the
card, and autorun. OS will automatically list the available drivers and
select driver for windows xp or vista and give OK. That's all.and make sure that your vista or 7 rc is set to signal area .like australia india
fixed thank you.when you install dvb-t tuner software DONT let it search for available channels dont set it up just install the operating program. then using windows media centre scan for available channels. i think there is a conflict of interest between the media centre program and the dvb-t stick program. mine is pinnacle studios.the stick needs to be in the usb on boot up to be recognised.this works a treat and thinking about it could be the cause of many windows media crashes when two tuners are competing for the same signal.
