I have a LeapFrog My Pal Violet (and Scout). The have been personalized with my child's name and favorite "things". My question is: How do I reset or clear this personalized information out so that it is back to factory settings with no name or selections in memory? I have already tried Shift+Ctrl+R and then connecting the toy to the LeapFrog Connection application and it appears that it is supposed to reset but it doesn't.

SOURCE: Brand new leapfrog pal violet... installed

This might be a dumb question, but does it need new batteries?

SOURCE: my dauhter got the leapfrog

You have to download the software for your computer that allows you to connect Violet in order to change the name, etc. Once you do that, connect Violet with the cable included and follow the steps. If you need more help let me know. It's a little tricky sometimes if you don't do things in the precise order.

Violet won't stop barking
Our violet was doing the same thing, as though the on/off paw was pressing all the time. I have just replaced the batteries, and it seems to have fixed it. In one of the manuals I read it says if she is behaving erratically, then replace the batteries, and that the included batteries are for display only. We only had her a month!

There is a possiblity that the ciructs inside could ahve been damaged but you could try reprogramming.

To reprogramme violet you will need to install the leapfrog connect software which you can download here (Windows) or here (Mac). Then follow the instructions in this PDF

How to clean violet the dog
We have a Violet and she in need of a bath. I took the voice box out of her and
found that her wires are not removable from the voice box. You have two
choices here. Rent/buy a steam cleaner or buy a new one and program it. I am
very frugal and will resort to rebuilding something myself if I can save a buck.
