You would reset it just as you would reset the bios password on a pc. Remove cover to dvr to gain access to the inside of the unit. On the main board you will see a cr2032 battery. Remove the battery, power up the unit ( with battery out) and once the unit powers on it will say " system reset please power off". After powering the unit back off re-install the battery, power the unit back on and the system in now reset.
Which model of Lorex DVR are you using? Currently, only some of our security DVRs are compatible with Mac OS X (via Safari). Our line of Edge and EDGE+ DVRs (LH300 Series) are Mac compatible and offer full remote viewing, playback, backup, and setup using Safari.

I would hook it up to a different Monitor to see if your monitor is broken.
If you mean you set the screensaver in the software and it keeps turning your monitor back on, then yes, its becuase you have it set to motion detection. Thats usually called an event & systems usually come out of screensaver mode & to display the event.
Sorry....no solution here except one (maybe)...I bought one of these units from Frys!...the clock never would move so I returned it and bought another one....it worked for 7 months and then froze up as well!....I called Lorex and they sent me a new one because I was still under the one year warrenty.....so far so good.....and the best thing is...I got to keep my old one for free to use elsewhere or as a stand by!...best of luck!
