Question about Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus Calculator

Calculator Bricked, all keys non responsive

Ditto, same problem
I bought my daughter a TI-83 plus a year ago for her freshman high school year. Recently we replaced the batteries with new ones in preparation for this year. All the keys are nonresponsive. I am unable to clear anything or even turn it off. I even tried removing the backup battery before removing the AAA batteries to see if the memory would be cleared. I still get some calculus functions (tan, sin, cos etc.) displayed when I reinstall the batteries and still can't use any keys.

The only warranty usually offered is an in-store warranty. If you didn't buy one in the store, I'd recommend contacting Texas Instruments to see if they will replace or fix your calculator. If they quote you a price above 80$ for anything, I'd recommend buying a new one instead.

The TI 83 Plus was purchased in Sep 09 for my high school freshman. It hasn't been used much and now will not turn on. I've replaced the batteries twice. Any suggestions? Can it be repaired? Thanks

If the batteries are rechargable they may need to be removed and recharged. Lack of use does not mean that they hold the charge forever.

I don't know but try it.

I have owned my TI-83 for many years now. I only used it while in high school. When I was out of school I took the batteries out of my calculator so it wouldn't corrode. I just took it out of storage...

TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.

If this doesn't do it, please reply to this post and we can go on to the next step.

Reset

The TI-83+ has several different resets. If you can, press 2ND MEM to get into the Memory Management menu. Press 7 to select Reset and go from there.

If the calculator is non-responsive, remove all four AAA batteries. Press and hold the ON key for at least ten seconds. Replace the batteries. Turn the calculator on.
