What is the manufacturer of the router. Most routers have a reset button. Reset it by pushing it for two to three seconds then waiting ten to 15 seconds before trying the password again.

Some routers have no password as default.
If it's a linksys router the ID is "admin" and so is the password.
Some of them I've seen the ID is "admin" by default with no password.

Some of their passwords can be controlled by using the installation cd.

I have installed my belkin router but i forgot to type in a password is this necessary,if so how do i do that

Yes, your router should be password protected.

Belkin routers ship without a password, so after entering into your browser, click "login" in the upper right-hand corner, then just click on "submit" (leave the password box blank).

Once in the router, click on "system settings" in the left-hand margin, under "administrative password" leave the box next to "type in current password" _blank_. Then enter your new password in the next box and repeat it in the next box to confirm. Don't forget to click on "apply changes" then log out.

I forgot my username and password on my dlink G604T wireless router

Check DLink manual and/or WEB site, there is usually a method of resetting the router back to the factory default. You can then change the password and configure the router again.
It pays to keep a record of passwords in a safe place.

Have wireless network at home trying to add my sons laptop to network but have forgot security key/passphrase which laptop is asking for

All you need to do is log into the router usually with the pc that is attached to the router (wired) by typing into the run command box Depending on the brand of router you'll either put in admin and no password or admin for the password or admin and password for password. Once in the router go to the wireless security tab and you can see the network key. Hope this helps

I need to install a Linksys Wireless router to my pc.

Could we have the model number of the router please?

On older LinkSys routers, the default username is blank and the default password is "admin." On newer Linksys routers, both the default username and the default password are set to "admin."

I need a password for my wireless g router

The default password is in your manual or user guide that came with the router. Accoding to the list found here: belkin uses a black password with the user name admin on some routers and others leave both fields blank. If you changed the password and forgot it you will have to reset the router to bring it back to default.

Attempting to reset router, forgot password have a new wireless card will not connect. can not open

Hi dprude;
what model is your router? do you remember placing a new password into it? if yes, you might want to do a hard reset, (pressing the reset button at the back of your router to 10seconds) in order to get the default password back but just make sure you know all the settings before doing so because everything will be erased.

try this site for default passwords:

ill be waiting for your feedback :)

Forgot password to the router and I just bought a laptop and can not setup the wireless with out the password.

Look in the manual for the proper procedure to reset the password. Normally, there is a "reset" button on the back of the unit that you must press and hold for a set amount of time, perhaps 30 seconds. After the router is reset, the password will be the generic one supplied with it. If you do not know what the generic password is, you can go to google and search for "router passwords," then find your router in the list.
