My system worked on and off, and now will not come on at all. It is like there is no power going to turn the disc or anything. Venturer PVS6100W.

We have the exact same problem. I have both the cig lighter plug and had ordered the house plug as well when I first bought the player. Neighter power source works and the player dose absolutly nothing when turned on. The player was used only on a few occasions when we went out of town and stopped working while we were using it on the way to Grandma's for Christmas. The unit is in brand new condition, like I said only having been used on just a few occasions.

I had the same problem. there is a switch that gets pushed down and there is something sticking on the back of the screen. i put layers of tape on it to build it up to push it down further to fix it. can also try to stick something where the switch is but you will need to turn it off to switch discs. if you really know what you are doing you can try and take it apart and try and fix it right.

Mine also would not recognize a disk in the player. After looking on here I noticed that a little plastic pin had broken from the back of the screen and so did not push a button beside the disk when closed. I fixed mine by cutting the head off a small screw and threading it in the hole left behind by the broken plastic pin. It sticks out just enough to push the button and let the player know that it is closed.

The problem with my unit was the power cord. If I wiggled the connection it would turn on. So I put a shim on the back side of the screen part so that when I close the unit it will push on the cord and the power comes on.

HELLO BETH...I RECIEVED TWO VENTURER PVS-6100'S LAST CHRISTMAS AND THEY STILL BOTH WORK PERFECTLY WITH ONE EXCEPTION...THERE IS A FUNNY LOOKING IMAGE IN THE UPPER LEFT HAND CORNER OF THEIR LCD SCREENS. SINCE THE COMPANY THAT SOLD THEM TO WALMART CLEARLY HAS NO INTENTION OF PROVIDING SERVICE OR ANY PARTS SUPPORT FOR THEM; I WOULD BE WILLING TO SELL MINE SO YOU COULD HAVE A TECHNICIAN SWAP YOUR GOOD LCD SCREENS AND PUT THEM ON MY GOOD PLAYERS AND THIS SHOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM AS LONG AS YOUR LCD SCREENS ARE OK. I CAN EITHER SELL YOU MY COMPLETE UNITS FOR ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100) EACH OR FOR FIFTY DOLLARS ($50) MORE EACH, I CAN PUT THEM ON MY BENCH AND DO THE SWAP AND HAVE THEM BACK TO YOU WITHIN A WEEK OF MY RECIEPT OF YOUR EQUIPMENT. LET ME KNOW KNOW SOON SINCE I GET VERY BUSY AROUND THIS TIME OF THE YEAR. THANKS.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DISCUSS THE DETAILS JUST CALL ME AT 727-412-8757 OR CALL ME ON MY CELL AT 727-434.7181. HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY...Sincerely...Rick Cole in Largo, Florida.

My Sony DVP-cx995v stopped playing DVD's

I had the same "Cannot play" problem - happened suddenly, I don't think I was doing anything unruly at the time.

After checking repair (exchange) prices in excess of $250 from Sony, I decided to open the cover to see if I could see anything wrong - normally a futile exercise with electronics except that in the past I have cleared errant disks that have lodged themselves near the drive/player at the rear of the library.

Upon opening and watching the library try to load and play I noticed the drive itself was not spinning the disk once loaded. It would sit for awhile, thinking about it I'm sure, then would unload and load the next dvd, again failing to spin.

I thought okay, maybe try to spin the dvd while in the player to see if it's jammed or otherwise hard to turn. It was not hard to turn and spun freely. In fact, when I put my finger through the hole at the exposed side of the player at the hub to spin the dvd, clockwise, it suddenly started to spin - and play!

I put the whole thing back together to test and all seems to be working fine at this point. Not sure what would cause the motor to stop spinning and remain in that state through poweroff/on cycles etc. but I'm sure this is not the last time I will have trouble of this kind.

I would note that when replacing the library back in its home on the shelf, be careful not to tip the library, especially toward the player area because the disks will spill out of the carousel near the player and become jammed when you power it on and attempt to load. A final tip of the library away from the player area may clear this if you hear the disks rolling out of their slots and you don't want to open the top again (it's a darned heavy box when fully loaded).

Good luck!

Phillips portable player PET724

I had the same problem with my PET724. I tried cleaning the lens, letting the battery run dead, even beating on it but nothing worked. When I was cleaning the lens again with some cleaning agent I accidentally slid the laser head as far away from the center as it would go. When I loaded another disc it has worked fine ever since. I have played at least two dozen discs so far with no problem.

Hope this helps.

Disk is not spinning in emerson portable dvd

if the disc doesn't spin, it sounds like a bad motor. can you hear the laser adjust? if you do, then it's probably a dead motor, if you can't hear that laser adjust at all, and the motor doesn't spin at all, the connection might have come undone(they both share a connection)

Reads all but DVD-Help PLEASE

When you say it won?t read are you trying to play commercial DVD movies or read DVD data disks? If you're trying to play movies then you need a couple of things the first being some type of player program. Real player works as does Windows media player but usually DVD drives come with a striped down version of PowerDVD or WinDVD. If you in fact have a player installed and when a DVD is inserted in your drive it doesn't play it may not be configured to automatically play DVDs. Try opening your player program and trying to manually play your DVD. Let us know if you have any success or if you need more assisted. If you do let us know what player program and operating system you have and any error messages that may appear.
