I have a miniDV tape stuck in the machine and it won't eject.  It makes a sound like the tape is loading or about to play and then it stops and turns off.  The error code F 04 displays on the read-out.  Any advise?  brian1378@hotmail.com  Thanks.

Does not eject

Best to get the service manual, this will explain the best way to get the tape out of the machine without causing further damage to the drive system.
However if you can't find it, take the top off and remove the tape very carefully. Try and determine how the tape can be removed without force, possibly by moving the mechanism by hand.
The video shuts down to prevent the problem causing further damage.

Can't eject tape from deck

On Sony DSR-80P error 02-221 and 02-291 is a problem with the tape pull-in or eject. Mostly the tape stickers are bad situated over the stripe-cover at the top, which should be moving freely!
Remove the stickers from the tape or put them lower on the case. If the tape is already inside the machine is unable to reject the tape - disconnect the machine from electricity to open it or call service...

Power problems on VCR

When a tape is inserted or ejected the machine will attempt to tighten the tape by turning the rewind hub for a second, then it watches the counter to see if the fast foward hub turned (thus the tape is tight), if the tape can not turn or the counter sensor is bad then it shuts off (a safety mode to prevent tape damage). So, you could have a bad belt, bad idler wheel, or bad sensor.

Hope that helps...

Error E3 on Mitsubishi HS-U795

Try this :
If your VCR malfunctions, try the following steps prior to contacting your Mitsubishi Dealer:
1 Check the Trouble Checks below to see if there is a solution to the current problem that you are
experiencing.
2 If the problem is not addressed on the Trouble Checks, the safety circuits in the VCR may be in
operation, thus please try the following: (the clock setting and the timer recording will be deleted.)
1 If possible, press EJECT on the front panel and remove the tape.
2 Press TIMER RESET on the rear panel with a pencil or a ball point pen.
3 If a tape is not loaded, press POWER to turn the power on. If a tape is loaded, wait about 1 minute
until the tape protecting function is completed, then press POWER.
3 You may also try the following procedure if the above steps did not resolve the problem (All settings will
be reset to the default settings.).
1 Press POWER on the front panel continuously for about 8 seconds until the current time display on
the front panel shows "- : - -."
2 If a tape is not loaded, press POWER to turn the power on. If a tape is loaded, the tape protecting
function will work and "99" will appear on the front panel display to begin count down. Wait about 1
minute until it reaches "00" to show the tape protecting function is completed, then press POWER.
If the problem with your VCR persists, contact your Mitsubishi dealer for assistance.

Im looking for error codes.

Actually the problem is in the capstan drive. If you replace or clean the idler, the problem will likely disappear....accordianman
