Question about PNY 4GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive - Grey/Black

2 Answers

Deleted files from my PNY 4GB flash drive are still taking up space.

I transferred files from a PC to an iMac using a PNY 4GB USB 2.0 flash drive.  I then deleted the files from the flash drive.  They don't show up on the drive; it lists 0 items on the drive.  But there is only 1.5 GB remaining of the original 3.86 GB.
How do I fully delete those files and regain that space?

Most flash drive comes with its on date support files on it. If those had not been removed then, yes it will show some space used.

Click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll down universal serial bus controllers you could see a yellow question / exclamation mark? ! or a red X

you will need to update/reinstall drivers

right click to reinstall drivers

if you can see your usb drive but its not working

ports (com&lpt) right click update driver if this fails to fix the problem

check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red white green black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems to a computer and its parts

hope it helps

You failed to mention what operating systems are involved. What does the work computer use as an operating system. The file system format of the USB may be say as an example ntfs windows while as a hypothetical the work computer could be apple o/s using a different file system or even maybe a unix system. You may need to reformat the usb stick to be the format file system used by the work computer. Also there could be a policy in place to prevent usb sticks working on work computers to protect intellectual property or to protect against virus transferance.

When the drive is plugged in, empty the recycle bin or trash can on the computer. It may still being seeing used space because the files are technically still there. they don't really go away till you empty that recycle bin.

I have a PNY 4GB high speed USB Drive. I want to

Well, the easy way would be to do this

But if you want to use the USB drive just insert it into an open USB port
  1. click Start
  2. click My Computer
  3. Select the USB drive from the list of connected drives
  4. Click and drag the files from their location to the USB drive
To get them to the other computer follow steps 1-3, then click and drag them from the USB drive to their new location.

Windows says not enough space on pny 8 gig flash drive

Try formatting the drive as NTFS instead of FAT32 (assuming you are using it only on Windows computers). FAT32 doesn't support files over 4GB.

For more info, see http://www.google.com/search?q=fat32+file+size+limit

I have a pny 4gb usb 2.0 flash drive black.instructions needed.

Most USB drives are "plug n play" meaning you just plug it in to a USB 2 port and your operating system will recognize it as a drive. If you're using Windows ME/XP/Vista, just plug it into a USB 2 port and once its recognized you'll be able to send files and folders directly to it by right clicking the file or folder and moving your mouse over SEND TO and selecting the drive from the list.
