Hello i think you need the usb driver from here:

http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?CategoryID=1&DetailID=436&MenuID=24&LanID=0

If any other drivers missing install them.
Look in the device manager for drivers problems.

Seagate has the support for your product:

http://www.seagate.com/support/external-hard-drives/desktop-hard-drives/onetouch/

You maybe need some software for the drive:

https://apps1.seagate.com/downloads/request.html

Enter the model or serial number to find any software.

Good luck

I have had a new drive fitted in my computer and need to install the USB adapter the only information on it is Lite-N 09841202714. Can you help me at all?

The number means very little and may be incorrect.

A new hard drive does not need USB drivers unless it is an EXTERNAL drive.
If that is the case then you would need to supply the motherboard model to be directed to the correct site to download them

If you have had some other card installed as well as a hard drive (eg a SATA card) then you would have recieved a driver CD with that card.

Should you not have that CD you have a couple of options.
First is to call the store who did the work and ask for it.
Second is to check the larger chip on the card and send back the numbers from it to us by responding to this post.

It may well say realtek, Iwill, nvidia or some other chip manufacturer and there will an alphanumeric string that is needed.

I have a Korg D888 digital recorder with internal usb hard drive. I entered USB mode with my PC sucessfully and went to back out. I got a screen on the Korg that says 'stop USB disk drive in your PC'. ...

Friend,
With all external devices you have to first stop using the device and only when told that It is safe to remove the device, that you should disconnect it from the PC. I think you have done it prior to that as the drivers were for Win 98 and you were using them on Win 7. A gross difference. I only hope your drive is still functional. (I doubt). If ever in doubt, just power off the PC in future.

Full size of Maxtor 200 GB hard drive not showing in windwos.

FOR AN INTERNAL HARD DRIVE OR EXTERNAL STAND ALONE HARD DRIVE
  • Your operating system software takes 1Mb (megabyte) to be equal to 1,048,576 bytes. Hard disk manufacturers on the other hand, assume that 1Mb is equal to 1,000,000 bytes. For example, a 320GB hard disk may be reported as 305GB by the operating system.
Hope this helps, if so please rate my solution accordingly, Thanks, David

Comp doesnt boot after installing USB 2 drivers

Hi rogueonline,

Disconnect the external drive from the PC. (It's possible windows registry is messed up).
It sound like your windows system is a bit confused as well. First try resetting the bios. See page 9 in your manual. (Don't forget to set it back to normal). This should allow you to get back into the bios. Go over each setting & adjust as needed.
Make sure your primary hard disk drive is listed in the boot order. Advanced Setup Page 30, in manual. If your windows operating system seem is a bit off (OS not installed correctly or driver software not installed correctly). The over-all function of the system can & will run slow. If your primary drive seem to also run slow, the FAT or MBR can be slightly corrupt which will also slow the drive down including file transfer & eventually the drive will cease to function. (The drive can be repaired by doing a full format through windows).
Do a fresh install of windows, including the full format, (Not a Quick format) on the primary drive. Even though ECS does include the USB 2.0 driver so does windows update service. If your windows was all ready updated & you re-installed ECS's (2003) USB driver, that may have been enough to screw up windows. If you have data on your current drive & need to get that data off & if you have access to another system you can pull your drive & slave it into another system & remove the data. There is no quick fix. Play it safe. Start from scratch. After windows has been installed & you install the ECS driver software, update windows until there are no updates left. I'm sure your system will regain its speed.
Link to ECS web site for P4VMM2 V3.2A .

Good luck ogueonline!

The cd-roms @ new dvd rom with the red cable makes the cpu freez no icons

The DVD drive you are trying to use uses a SATA (serial ATA) connection (the red cable). If the drive came with any software on a disk, you should install the drivers for it. Otherwise check the manufacturer's website for information and/or drivers for the installation of the drive.

Operating system

Hi Paul, please go to the hard drive's manufactures web site, example; Seagate, Western Digital, Maxtor ECT & download their software for a bootable floppy disk. Tools & utilities. Use this software to format the hard drive. You can also test the hard drive with the same software. If you still get a blue screen from windows (Which is unlikely). Back up & download, Darik's Boot and Nuke floppy disk software. Click on this link:
http://dban.sourceforge.net/ . There is plenty of readme.txt to help you understand what the software will do. Once finished run you're bootable software from the hard drive manufacture. Install you're windows XP software CD.

Good Luck!

Before going to the drastic last resort reinstallation,
find out exactly what motherboard you have by downloading Belarc Advisor (freeware), which will give you the info to get to the manufacturer's site to download the drivers. For example, this is what it says about mine:

Board: Acer Grapevine
Serial Number: LXAXY0X10172000A5E1601
Bus Clock: 166 megahertz
BIOS: Acer V3.50 02/13/2007

It will also tell you all your hardware s
with serial no's and codes for software. To remove the problems caused by your first try at the fix, try system restore to a time when your computer worked.

Acer support stinks, and will not tell you what is on your computer, and my list downloads which you already have installed.. If you try to use their automated troubleshootin program, you are aiming for the looney bin. Worse than useless.
After you determine your motherboard serial no and manufacturer, go to the manufacturer's website to find out how to download upgrades or reinsall drivers. Acer has a backup on your C drive in a hidden partition of all the programs whch came with your computer. if you didn't originally create backup disks, you still may do so, and just install the programs you need.

Acer sold a lot of cheapos with Vista loaded with only 512 MG ram. If that is the case, they also send out software wich conflicts with Vista. You are doomed to mayhem unless you inslall at least another GB of RAM. And dont buy it from Acer. Identify what you need with Belarc, then go online to identify a cheap source. Hope I didnt get to you too late. Aspire pretends they dont have live help, but they do. Call Acer customer support1.gif at 800 816-2237, 8 to 5:30 and if you get a rep who won't help you, demand to speak to a supervisor, If they tell you it is a Microsoft1.gif problem, not theirs, they lie--all preinstalled microsoft programs are serviced by the computer manufacturer, not microsoft.
