Go into the admin program, select Applications and Gaming, type in any name to reference it with in the first column. Type in your start and ending ports. Keep the protocol at both. Type in the last set of numbers that the IP address needs for the computer that you are forwarding to. Select enable. Select the save setting button.

Where do i find the port forwarding?

To access the Port Forwarding option of your router, you will need to access the router setup page and from there you will find Application and Gaming tab and there you will see the sub tab port forwarding that is where you can open the port that you need to work behind the router.

I want to allow port forwarding for remote desktop use, or enable the upnp? Any ideas?

You will need to enter the router setup menu and allow port forwarding there. This requires some knowledge of how the router works. An easier way of doing what you want is to install teamviewer on both computers and then you will be able to do what you want without any configuration. download onto both computers from here www.teamviewer.com

I am trying to portforward azareus ip adress 192.168.0.1 dlink dir 165

Port-forwarding allows connections from the network, i.e., to TCP port #80 at the IP-address assigned to your router, to be "forwarded" (much like a switchboard operator at a university)
to any specific TCP port (but usually the identical port-number) on a SPECIFIC computer "inside" your network.

If your router is '192.168.0.1', then it probably will give-out IP-addresses like '192.168.0.100'
and '192.168.0.101', and '192.168.0.102' to the first 3 computers on your network.

So, "port-forwarding" is used to designate one of those 3 IP-addresses as the one to receive/process all the 'TCP port #80' traffic.

On the router's web-interface, on the "port-forwarding" page, just add an entry for 'TCP port #80'.

Nat setting

Two things are important for opening NAT:
  1. You have to give your computer a static IP address, so the forwarding process can find the right machine to forward to. If you don't know how to do that, you can find a guide here.
  2. You need the specific port numbers you want to forward. Of course you can just open ALL ports, but you would expose your computer to port scanning, which is a huge security risk. (Think of your car door that has a keypad for unlocking. Now you say "press any number between 1 and 65535 and the door will open" - You don't want to do that, right?)
Look at this page, which lists many applications and gives you detailed step-by-step instructions how to set up port forwarding on this router. If your software is not mentioned, you still can use the default guide and just replace the port numbers with the one(s) you need to forward.

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

You should set static IP address on the device first before doing the port forwarding. And the port needs to be specific for certain applications. Go to www.portforward.com for helpful tips about the exact ports to be opened.

Dont know how to set nat type to open

For you to be able to open the NAT on the router you have to open or forward the application port on it. This router has a graphical interface where you can configure port forwarding, access http://192.168.1.1 (default) username blank and password is admin. Now look for port forwarding and open the port for your application.

Open port on router for peer to peer downloading

The port you need to open depends on the specific application you're using.

Go to the website of the application you're using and search their support area for port settings or firewall configuration settings.

Some applications have a user forum where you can find the answer as to what ports are required to be open.

Here's an example of the ports that would need to be open for Limewire: (this does not mean these are the ports that need to be open in your case)

In LW tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Change LW's listening port to 65000 (or try any ports in the range of 49152 - 65535) > apply > ok. If you have port forwarding set up for a modem/router, you'll need to change the port forwarded to match LW's new listening port. If you have a specific port number allowed thru a software firewall, make sure that you allow LW's new port number.

Port fordwording is not working for Radmin port 4899

when you do port forwarding you must know or have a static ip of the device for the application. For example, if you want to forward port 3074 for your xbox live, you need to enter also the xbox ip address on the port forwarding page. Port forwarding is like opening a port on your firewall for that specific application. Make sure also that you have the latest firmware of the router.
