Question about KHypermedia Electronics - Others

1 Answer

Partition Magic Have used This program twice (over a year's time) to successfully adjust the size of each part the originally divided (C and D ) hard drive. On the third try, six months later, I was not able to simply use the slide bar to once again give more free space to the c drive from the d drive. After several attempts I wound up having the d drive (with many of my business photos) disappear and become totally inaccessible.I haven't been able to undo this or to find that drive. Any suggestions as to the process of finding and getting to that "d" drive?

Cannot change volume

Hard drive volumes are can be partitioned to adjust sizes.

The hard drive space that's available after device installation depends on two factors;

the actual manufactured size of the hard drive, and the number and size of the partitions created on the hard drive.

Partitioning a hard drive splits the total manufactured space into sections, each listed as a separate device by your computer's operating system.

It's used primarily as a method of turning larger hard drives into more manageable sections of storage.

There are times when the chosen partition size is no longer adequate to your needs.

You can quickly change the partition size of the drive using the administrative tools of your operating system when this occurs.

The data will remain intact and the newly sized partitions are instantly available for use.

Press the "Start" button located on the taskbar on the bottom of the Windows 7 desktop. Select the "Control Panel" from the Start menu to open the Control Panel window.

Type "administrative tools" into the search box of the Control Panel window.

Click on the Administrative Tools link revealed in the Control Panel window to open the Administrative Tools window.

Double-click on the "Computer Management" option listed among the Administrative Tools in the rightmost panel of the Administrative Tools window.

Select "Disk Management" in the Storage subcategory listed in the left panel of the window.

A display will appear listing all of the hard drives contained in your system and hard drive information, including the sizes of the current partitions contained on the drives as well as the available space of the drives.

Right-click on the drive partition you wish to change in the lower panel of the window. ''Choose a size option, either "Extend Volume" or "Shrink Volume."

Use "Extend Volume" to enlarge the size of the partition.

There is a limit to the maximum size of the partition, based on the amount of free space contained on the drive. Select "Shrink Volume" to shrink the size of a partition.

Select the new partition size and then select the "Enlarge" or "Shrink" button to complete the resizing process.

If you've already allocated all of your hard drive space to multiple partitions, you will have to shrink one partition on the drive in order to create free space for enlarging another partition.

The newly sized volume is immediately ready for use.

or you could use a third party software program,0.aspx

Hope this helps

Purchase or download a partition manager program.
The only way you can easily manage or change your partition size is to get a third-party program.

Partition Magic Freeware is the most widely known partition manager software.,0.aspx You can also download freeware programs such as Cute Partition Manager.

Open or run the partition manager.
In Partition Magic you can open the program easily. In Cute Partition Manager you may have to create a boot disk and boot from it to run the program. Once the program is open, select the drive you want to manage.
Go to the menu and choose an action or right-click and choose "resize." There will be an action -menu that will let you choose something like "resize" or "change hard drive size."

Some programs will also let you right-click on the graphical expression of a drive and choose the action or drag the graph to change the size.

Pick a new size for the drive and decide what you want to do with the remaining space. The rest of the space should be partitioned or formatted to make use of it if the current partition is downsized.

Apply the changes by clicking "apply" or "OK." You will then have to reboot the computer for the changes to take effect. The program may automatically do this for you or it simply may direct you to do it.

Hi skjelmose

It looks like there has been some form of corruption during the cloning and the Acer Aspire 135's BIOS can tell the difference between the original drive and the 2 clones.

Another possibility may be that Virus Detection is enabled in BIOS and some files on the cloned drives are being assessed as suspect. The BIOS retains, in its memory, the parameters of the last successful boot with the original drive and errs on the side of caution with even the smallest of differential anomalies on the clones.

Successful cloning requires good software and attention to detail. You do not need 2 separate items of software to clone a drive. To clone a drive successfully you must detach and connect both the original and the empty drives to a 2nd computer using some paired combination of a hard drive dock, a hard drive enclosure or a USB to IDE/SATA Adapter Cable on which a single example of a good Hard Drive or Partition Management application is installed.

You can clone drives easily and effectively with a single piece of software such as (most are available in Free Download and/or Trial format):

Partition Commander (

Partition Magic (

Symantec PartitionMagic (

Partition Manager (

in order to dual boot something.... you need to partition the hard disk... if there's only 1... you need a program that will create another partition from drive C...
for example the size of your Hard disk(drive C) is 160gb
you need a program that will split 160gb into 2 it should come out and you will have now two drives (C & D) with a size of 80gb each...(It depends on how large you want the other drives to have)...

the program is called Partition Magic 8.0 if you want that program.. i can send it to you... just contact me in my yahoo messenger...

now it's time to install the Windows XP in each drive then you'll have a dual boot... or you can install Windows Vista on the other drive... so therefore you'll have Windows Xp and Windows Vista in one PC...

hope it will help you... tnx
