My check engine light came on and the motor seems to be shaking? I drive about 30min to work and about 30min home, so I'm not sure if I will have time to take it in before I go to work? What seems to be the problem?

It is most likely a misfire, especially if the engine light starts flashing. Most misfires are due to the secondary ignition system wearing out (spark plugs and wires). I would replace the spark plug wires first as they are the more common cause, but it's a good idea to replace the plugs too.
**Note - if the engine light is flashing, it indicates catalyst damage at that time. Driving a vehicle for prolonged periods with the engine misfiring will result in catalytic converter damage.

2001 COROLLA SHAKING ABOVE 80KM'S MANUAL 1.8

Shakes ONLY under acceleration? Goes away when you back off of the throttle? Are you sure?
Please inspect the front and both side engine mounts. The half shafts will cause that sort of a shake(whole car) when they go bad(inboard CV joints).
Aggravated OR caused my a motor mount that has shifted to one side, binding the half shaft.
Common in Chrysler mini vans!!!!!!That is why the front motor mount is adjustable.
Check the engine mount on the short half side first.

Lincoln ls shakes

Is you "check engine" light on ? If it is you can take it to most of your local auto parts store and have them pull diagnostic trouble codes (DTC's) for free which may help narrow down the cause of it shaking. Not sure exactly what you are saying. Do you seem to have hesitation when pressing down on the gas to move ? As you are driving is there or does there seem to be a "stutter" once in a while like a chug. I say this because Ford products (your engine V6 or V8) have a separate coil for each spark plug that basically sits on top of the engine. Since your vehicle is a little older the coils go out on them because of the heat which causes a misfire which would cause shaking like you described. A misfire code would be in the P0300's area on the list of DTC's. I may be way off base but this is a common thing that happens with this coil on plug system. Hope this information helps....

1998 ram shakes at low rpm's (1100-1700) at around 40 mph, but the wheel or steering doesnt shake, its the truck itself shaking. It's not as bad when i get up to 50mph. The check engine light

Start by checking the tie rod ends on both sides on the front wheels..With the truck jacked up and jack stands underneath the frame both left and right wheels should be suspended in mid air..The are two tie rod ends on each side of the vehicle, a inside and outside tie rod..Check for any excessive place on each one...
Also ckeck the balance on all four tire's... Inspect the wheels for any stress cracks that would cause them to not to balance correctly and make your vehicle shake...
Check the transmission mounts on the cross member, make sure the mount is secure to the Trans and cross member mount..Also check both u-joints on the drive shaft and any hanger bearings that may be underneath there..If it's a 4 wheel drive check both drive shaft's...Anyone of these option's could show those
symtom's you mentioned...Good luck and let me know how it works out..

The check engine light came on last night. I started the car this morning and the cara was shaking really bad from the engine and the engine is very quiet but the whole car has a shake or little knock to...

Could be a broken motor mount. Not uncommon to break one. However, for it to shake badly you may have just broken a second motor mount.

If the service center is close by, I would likely take the chance and drive it. I just wouldn't accelerate hard - and I would be very gentle. That is just my opinion - can't be "for sure" without knowing more.

Good luck.

Car shaking/ vibrating...

I WOULD ALMOST BET THAT THE SHAKING OF THE CAR IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, THUS ONE PROBLEM. IT COULD BE BAD INJECTOR(S) OR JUST POOR MAINTENENCE. WITH 88K ON IT I THINK IT WOULD BE SOMETHING MINOR. HOPE THIS HELPS. LET ME KNOW. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR AN HONEST RATING AS WELL.
