because of the location of my outlet, its on a stand by itself, not near any other electronic devices. i was desperate enough to set up a fan 2 feet from it to cool it down. all for nothing.
i have a fujitsu speedport at work which has never had any problems for the past 8 years. i think im going to go with another for my home computer.

- its already at its limit of the power source cord. cannot place it any higher. you want me to plug in an extension cord & set it atop my roof?Nov 15, 2007
- thanks alsep but your are speaking a foreign language to me...
"Now I'm experienting with WAN settings. Make sure you have WAN backup
set to DSL Link, Fail tolerance 2, Recovery Interval 30 secs, Timeout 3
secs, Traffic Redirect disabled (if you have dynamic IP addess; this is
in case of adsl connection)."
this is waaay beyond my "very limited" knowledge of computers. i would rather spend the $$ on a reliable product than continue to troubleshoot this piece of junk!

- windman. to satisfy your solution, i moved it. will let you know. the power cord is the limiting factor!!!! even as i reply to your comments, my router is heating up! they should design it with a heat sink or internal cooling fan like my external hds have!Nov 15, 2007
- well FixYa...
