    "LCP Echo Failure Count 6. f->state 4"

    I'm using firmware version 1.9.5.3

    Any solutions to this?

    kind regards,

while playing online games, my router heats up & i get disconnected. if i leave it for a few minutes then reboot it it works fine for about 20-30 minutes. when it heats up again, it disconnects. this is REALLY Frustrating!!!!

My internet connection will drop when downloading large file through wireless connection. The wireless connection between PC and WCG200 is still alive. I have to reboot the modem to get the internet connection back.

If my computer is on through out the day sometimes my router / modem doesn't connect me to the internet. I have to turn the computer and modem off, wait 10 to 15 seconds and then turn everything back on to get back onto the internet. Is there a solution to this problem, forever minor it is. Same problem here. I upgraded to the latest firmware (though that already dates from 2005) because a Vista 64 server was unable to connect to it. That fixed the problem, but now I loose internet connection every hour or so. Damn thing is 7 years old...it's gonna fly pretty soon !!!

Samething happens to me, and now with a Wii system, sometime it won't allow that to connect when I have the laptop going wireless.

It was only happening a few times a week 4 me, but has not occurred 3 times today.  I will try my OLD modem & see if it is more reliable - previously it stayed connected for months not days.  A number of changes have been made to my home network including adding a phone extension to the modem - so lots of things to eliminate! ;-)

  • mkindahl Apr 17, 2009

I've had this problem for a long time. At random intervals (once or twice a week) the router will lose connection to the "Internet" (WAN) and any computer connected to the computer, wireless or wired, will lose connection to computers on the WAN. Connections between computers on the WAN works fine (not very surprising).

When rebooting the router, the connection is re-established.

I can connect to the router itself over HTTP and reboot from the "Device" page.

DNS is disabled (the router appears to have problems with cached lookups, so I set up a DNS server separately).

I have had the same problem. A technician from Zyxel company advised me to change the firmware to the newer one. My firmware is V3.40(MV.3) dated 07/29/2005. I received a new firmware file by email. It's 2,7 Mb binary file. I havent done it yet because I need to be sure there's no other way. It's the last resort I'll take. Now I'm experienting with WAN settings. Make sure you have WAN backup set to DSL Link, Fail tolerance 2, Recovery Interval 30 secs, Timeout 3 secs, Traffic Redirect disabled (if you have dynamic IP addess; this is in case of adsl connection). Above mentioned settings help a lot but sometimes it still loses connection. I've heard Zyxel Prestige 2602 HW tends to disconnect from internet randomly.

Because of the location of my outlet, its on a stand by itself, not near any other electronic devices. i was desperate enough to set up a fan 2 feet from it to cool it down. all for nothing.
i have a fujitsu speedport at work which has never had any problems for the past 8 years. i think im going to go with another for my home computer.

its already at its limit of the power source cord. cannot place it any higher. you want me to plug in an extension cord & set it atop my roof?

  • pinznneedles Nov 15, 2007

thanks alsep but your are speaking a foreign language to me...

"Now I'm experienting with WAN settings. Make sure you have WAN backup

this is waaay beyond my "very limited" knowledge of computers. i would rather spend the $$ on a reliable product than continue to troubleshoot this piece of junk!

  • pinznneedles Nov 15, 2007

windman. to satisfy your solution, i moved it. will let you know. the power cord is the limiting factor!!!! even as i reply to your comments, my router is heating up! they should design it with a heat sink or internal cooling fan like my external hds have!

  • pinznneedles Nov 15, 2007

    well FixYa...
this hasnt been helpful at all. i will check back later if my router hasnt burned out! piece of junk!
fyi, do Not purchase ActionTec products!

I am having the exact same problem. I took the device back to the store and they replaced it with a brand new one, but the new is doing the same thing. I will try the solution given and tell you if it works.

This problem might occurs when using an older version of ConfigPPP, version 2.0.1

To fix the problem try:

  1. Open the ConfigPPP control panel
  2. Locate where it says "Echo Interval:" with a number after it. This is about a third of the way down the ConfigPPP window.
  3. The number is actually a pop-up menu. Click on it, and choose "Off" from the resulting menu.
Hope this helps.

It keeps losing the internet connection.

Are you connecting via wired or wireless connection. If wireless there might be another device such as a cordless phone that is interferring, or your TV is just on the edge of the range for your wireless router.

My router disconnect frequently

Question: the connection to router disconnects OR the internet disconnects,
If router disconnect: then try being in range, choose a better spot, keep router in a good spot,
If internet disconnects, cal ISP get it checked, make sure you run ping test to make sure its consistent , here is an example,
E.g:
open run: type cmd, hit enter,
type : ping google.com -t
hit enter, it should give regular pings without timeouts....if too many timeouts, internet service has issues,
call them and report..

Why do i continue to lose my connection to the server when playing a game?

LAN Connection Issues and Port Settings LAN-based matches between players on your internal home network are not routed through the Internet or Battle.net servers. Disconnections from LAN matches are attributed to faulty internal wiring or router settings. Log in to your router's administration page via a Web browser and ensure ports 6112 through 6119 TCP are open for traffic flow. If this does not work, check your network wiring and ensure it's properly seated in the computer's and router's Ethernet ports. Corrupt Server List and Virus Attack If you have recently downloaded any maps or connected to privately hosted servers, it's possible you picked up a virus that altered your server file list and is directly causing connection issues. Scan your computer for viruses, using an updated virus definition database. b> Multiple IP Connections b> If you and a friend share a single license or key, disconnects occur if you attempt logging in while the other is playing or vice versa. Key sharing is against the Terms of Use and can lead to an IP ban or restriction. Ensure no one else has access to your CD key or tries to access the game while you are playing to avoid multiple IP disconnects. b> High Latency Disconnects Internet connections with latency over 500 ms can cause disconnects while playing in heavily populated online matches. Alleviate this issue by closing all connection-intensive programs running on your computer. Reconnect to the .net servers with only running on your computer. If you continue experiencing disconnects, visit Speedtest.net and determine whether your latency is above 500 ms. If so, contact your Internet provider for further troubleshooting. Internet crashing b> If your Internet Explorer keeps randomly crashing (closing by itself), there may be an add-on or temporary page disrupting the connection. Every time you browse the web, Internet Explorer keeps track of the websites you visit. It keeps these pages, along with cookie trackers, in the "Temporary Browsing History" folder. Some websites cause Internet Explorer to crash.

Open the Internet Explorer browser. Go to "Tools > Delete Browsing History." Hit "Delete All." Check off the box that says "Also delete files and settings stored by add-ons." Hit "OK." Close and reopen the browser. b> Disable Add-Ons b> Go to "Start > Search." Type "Internet Explorer" and hit "Enter." The computer will search for any files with this label. Double-click on the file that says "Internet Explorer (No Add-Ons)." This will allow you to browse in IE without any additional plug-ins or add-ons that might be causing the browser to crash. b> Reset Internet Explorer b> Open the IE browser. Go to "Tools > Internet Options." Hit "Advanced." Click on "Reset" and then hit "Enter." Close and reopen the browser. Hope this helps. b>

Hello I have a netgear wireless router WGR614 V5 which is connected to a cable modem and since several weeks I have many unexpected and random disconnection. So I must turn off my wireless router and...

HELLO,
Why are you using two routers, these might be conflicting with each other? Somtimes the drivers need updating.Try this first, and if this fails, disconnect the cable modem and just connect the wireless router to the main phone line socket via a modem filter and connecting a wireless adapter to your pc and install the driver for this adapter. The signal from the phone socket connection to the wireless router situated close to the main phone socket. Then connect the adapter to the usb port on your PC,and let the driver software and PC do the rest. That's all I've got on my PC.

The signal is strong but there's no connection to internet

I have this problem sometimes. If you lose connection to the modem, you can't connect back to it, you have to reset the modem. Goto the modem, unplug it, wait 10 seconds, then plug it back in. Goto your connections, select yours, disconnect and then reconnect, wait a few seconds and it should connect. Hope this helps, let me know if it does or doesn't.

Continually disconnects internet at random

You have WR160N router. This router has issues with the firmware.
Try to upgrade the firmware of the router. Firmware is the software of the router.
Download the latest firmware of the router. Go to the manufacturer's web site and download the firmware of the router.
Open the set up page of the router and upgrade the firmware of the router. Once you upgrade the firmware of the router, reset the router.
On the router you will find a small reset button, hold it down for 30 seconds. release it. wait for 1 minute. Now unplug the power to the router and plug it back in.
Now you will need to reconfigure the router according to the Internet service provider.

HP dv6139 loses Inet connection after 5 minutes (both ethernet & router)

Most probably it's the router's fault, if you have one. I've seen many cheap routers randomly loosing wireless connection with their computer clients. Try with another router. One possible solution: upgrade the router's firmware.

Hi,
There are two things involved in getting disconnected either your comp is getting disconnected or your router.
Instance 1
Computer getting disconnected connect your comp and router with ethernet cable if using wireless. Because at times it's not router but the wireless connectivity that gets loost.
Instance 2
Router getting disconnected...
Reset your router by holding the reset pin at the back of your router for 15 secs and lights will start flashing on router wait for 1 min you'll have router reset to default settings and now check that dsl or internet light on your router is flashing or static if flashing contact your isp issue with the line if static run the disc for router installation again and it'll remain connected after successful installation.

Won't install properly...

Go to your power management setting and turn everything off. I don't know what version of windows you have, so I'll use Windows XP.
Start => Settings => Control Panel => Power Options. Turn all options OFF.
If it disconnects at random you may need to change the channel setting on the cable router.
