You can access the Intellisense with any universal remote that has a settings button.
TV > Settings > Video > Scroll down to find Intellisense.
Wouldn't this be the same as using the menu button on the front of the set to access setup? After I select Intellisense it brings up a message on the screen saying to "press the Intellisense button on the remote". Do you know of some other way to activate the function without the remote?
Some of the universal remotes by phillips have but not all have the program inside the remote for it u have to look on the box u can allso call magnavox witch is the same thing and ask customer service if the have a universal remote that will do that for u i hope this hp some

Here's what Philips FAQ says about your convergence procedure: Question
How do I adjust convergence (align colors)?
AnswerNote: For best results,
the Projection TV needs to be turned on for 15 minutes or longer before
adjusting the picture tubes (convergence).
INTELLISENSE button on the remote (under the flap). During the
convergence process DO NOT press the INTELLISENSE button again and DO
NOT move the Projection TV.
So, I think you're going to need to order a replacement remote. search "replacement remote" at http://www.philips.com
A universal remote will allow you to access all the necessary functions, and depending on the remote that you plan on using, a lot of the time you can use the more advanced functions as well.
If you have the remote working, you can access the model number through the menu settings as well. Get to the generic menu, go to the very bottom of the list where you will see hardware settings or just settings, from there you will see an option that says either hardware information, or information or even just one that says about. If you click on that you can generally find the model number and serial number of the TV.
If you're using a generic "less expensive" universal remote the code for your TV will depend on the exact model number. And you'll have to crawl in behind the TV to get that information then, sometimes you can access the menu from the buttons along the front/side of the TV but not always (impossible to know for sure without knowing the model number of your TV). Sometimes you can fake the remote settings if you punch in the code for any Hitachi TV, guess at how old the TV is and find a number in a code that is about the same size as the TV.
On the front of the set there should be a video button. Press that until you see the CC Closed Caption and turn it off, I suspect that it is on text. You can use the front panel buttons to change the settings.
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance please comment to this post and I will try to help you further. Thanks for using FixYa asnowman
If the model number on the set is 55PP9401/55 you have an interesting set----this model says Philips but was made by Hitachi---they made them for Philips for one year while Philips was gearing up to produce their own sets---very good set and is better than the Philips sets that came after it. It uses (if it is this model) two STK-392-110 CONVERGENCE IC's----both need to be replaced and the set adjusted---no need for an original remote---with the set engaged in the convergence adjustment mode( there is a micro switch on the front of the main circuit board) A HITACHI REMOTE CAN THEN BE USED TO ADJUST THE CONVERGENCE. Hope this was helpful.
If there is no on screen menu option, accessible from the console, that you can switch off, the answer to your question is "You can't".....without obtaining a universal remote that you will install using the codes for the function of your particular set, and since you have a rear projection model (61 inches, wow!!) every universal remote normally used for the purpose of home entertainment theater setups will have the code for your set.
For the majority of phillips/magnavox universal remotes: Hold code search button down till red light satys on. Press the tv button and the red light should blink and stay lit. With the tv on, push the power button repeatedly until the tv turns off.(dont push the power button again after the tv turns off or it will go to the next code). Push the mute button to save the setting.
when using your remote once you get to where you want to Go to adjust press channel up & down buttons this will let you scroll up and down and then use vol- vol+ to make adjustments.use buttons on front of tv.ThankYou for using FixYa.Have a Nice Day.
